And on Animal Planet Latin America is the Puppy Month. @_@
We never had any special months except Shark month :/ (as far as I know)
Why doesn't this surprise me? :D
This is not funny XD They should have called it ''Shark Decade'' instead.

I start hating sharks for this, they've become so mainstream :D

We never had Animal Planet, so consider our country (and Spain) one of the fewest countries not to get it.
True :/ It is so weird. Portugal has got only 3 Discovery networks and Spain only 2.
Meanwhile the Netherlands has got 6 networks and Flanders 5. (although 3 of those are pan-European)

I did not count the HD feeds.

To comfort you a little: Discovery Channel PT is having a SharkTember :p

Here TLC would be Real Time (and HD), it's just that since the brand is on DTT is nowadays too strong, they are scared to rebrand the channel
So much that it has inspired a few parodies :D

Discovery HD Showcase Europe is the only defunct Discovery network in the Benelux. (It was basically Discovery HD with some Animal Planet shows)

I think it closed down in all European countries, I can't find any new information about it.

Portugal still has it. Here's the list of Discovery channels over here:
-Discovery Channel (feed taken from Spain w/local breaks like Nickelodeon)
-Discovery Science (feed taken from Latin America, breaks are in a mix of Latin American Spanish with Portuguese, shows are subtitled into European Portuguese)
-Discovery Civilization (same as Discovery Science)
-TLC (European feed)
-Discovery HD Showcase (European feed)
-Eurosport (European feed in Portuguese, breaks in English, English audio available)
-Eurosport HD (same as Eurosport but in HD and without the English audio track)
-Eurosport 2 (Western European feed in Portuguese, breaks in English)
-Eurosport News (in Portuguese)
The Eurosport channels were recently acquired from TF1.
Defunct brands:
-Travel Channel (Latin American feed)
-People and Arts (at first it was a Latin American feed but then it mutated into a Portuguese version, same as the Spanish version without the Spanish shows, but I'm unclear)
-Discovery Travel & Living (same as what's now known as TLC)
-Discovery Turbo (same as Discovery Science as Civilization, and I think that the reason why it can no longer be seen is because of the recent acquisition of Eurosport)

Do you get TLC and Discovery HD Showcase with Portuguese subtitles?

Anyways, there are 7 Discovery networks in Portugal. I wonder why they aren't listed on the website
I don't think those other channels are owned by Discovery Networks. (Eurosport and Travel Channel are also broadcast over here)

Yes.
Just so you know: Eurosport was recently acquired from TF1, so we now get 11 Discovery networks.
As for that Travel Channel situation, Portugal used to get the European version (which returned in 2005), the Latin American version was because we used to get some documentary channels from Brazil.

Portugal seems to have an interesting mixture of European and Latin American feeds.

Thank you.
Kids channels available over here in Portuguese:
-Disney Channel PT
-Disney Junior PT
-Canal Panda (Dreamia co-owns this channel with AMC Networks. The channel was launched on April 1st, 1996 as Panda Club, then renaming it to the curent name within less than a year. The channel has had so many changes over the past 18 years (from an varied mix of live-action shows to some anime to a mix of pre-school programming with some Chinese cartoons from the Alpha-Auldey company). Until the switch from 2000 to 2001, the channel was also available in Spain (though it returned in 2011, when the Portuguese version turned 15). Early original programming included Panda Sport and something like "Panda Music", and later more and more shows with the word "Panda" appeared, always including the channel's mascot, an anthropomorphic panda which hasn't been seen speaking to date (such as Panda Cozinha or Panda Museus). In 2012 the channel premiered Bairro do Panda, a show featuring the channel's mascot and his other (mascot) friends, all anthromoporphic animals which haven't been speaking to date and some human characters created specifically for the show. It's a collaboration with Unicef, by which I mean someone around the age of five-ten speaks about the importance of something.
Up until the launch of Panda Biggs, the channel had some instances of Spanish within the channel (mostly typos which CN PT later tried to do the same because the translators weren't on their best days), for example: "OS INCRÍVEIS MISTÉRIOS DE RIPLEY" = "OS INCREÍVEIS MISTÉRIOS DE RIPLEY". Their website also had that kind of issues until the latest redesign in 2011.
The channel used to close between 01:00 and 05:00, and since New Year's Day 2012, the channel went 24/7.)
-Biggs (Launched on December 1st, 2009 as Panda Biggs, removing all action shows from Canal Panda's schedule, until, vá se lá saber porquê, shows like Huntik and Mermaid Melody returned to Canal Panda two months into the new channel's existence.
On December 1st, 2013, the channel was officially renamed Biggs (though the online presence already had the new name and logo a few days earlier). This was probably to distance target demographics of both Panda and Biggs.
The channel is a Portuguese brand (it never launched in Spain), and has been a Dreamia-Chellomedia/AMC Networks channel since launch day.
It still closes down between 01:00 and 05:00 every night.)
-Nickelodeon PT (was a Portuguese version of Nick CEE until September 1st, 2009, has since been a Portuguese version of the Spanish channel (with local ad breaks).)
-SIC K (The channel launched on December 18th, 2009 and has been a MEO exclusive since day one - in fact, the channel promised to go to other providers once the exclusivity contract ended six months into the channel's existence, yet it hasn't still expanded to other providers. It mostly airs obscure shows and airs local content as well as a local claymation show called Os Tótis.)
-BabyFirst TV (European feed in Portuguese)
-Baby TV (Same as BabyFirst TV)
-JimJam (Same as BabyFirst TV and Baby TV except that it rarely airs local ads.)
-Cartoon Network PT

DEFUNCT CHANNELS IN PORTUGUESE:
-Disney Cinemagic (It first launched on October 1st, 2008, causing Disney Channel to move to basic cable. All classic movies and shows were transferred to the new channel.
The channel closed on November 1st, 2012, less than two months earlier it was announced that ZON was replacing it with a new Disney Channel, which turned out to be Disney Junior. Little to no content transferred to both DC and DJ and most of those movies can no longer be seen (most movies shown on the channel were Disney movies that weren't classics + obscure Disney titles + old DCOMs). It had the Disney Cinemagic VIP block on Sundays and the last movie shown on the channel was Phantom of the Megaplex.)
-Disney Cinemagic HD (Launched on January 1st, 2009, they just disposed the channel when Disney Cinemagic died instead of Disney Channel HD launching.)
-Duck TV HD (I think it was verbal, it was the European feed. Formerly known as Bebe TV until 2011, it can no longer be seen over here.)
-KidsCo (I never got the channel but it aired cartoons that I have never seen on an actual television. The channel no longer exists considering that NBCUniversal disposed of the brand.)

At first, I thought Brian Hohlfeld working on many shows Nicole Dubuc worked on was just a coincidence . It turns out they're married. I previously thought the Paul Dini / Misty Lee marriage had the largest age gap (he was born in 1957 while she was born in 1976), but this is the one that's larger (he was born in 1957 while she was born in 1978, making 21 years). I'm not complaining, but this is surprising.
Into the Spider-Verse is definitely one of the better animated films I've seen this year. I really enjoyed its comicbooky art style and animation. I wouldn't mind a sequel.
