Just finished watching the first episode and wow, a new DB series, I'd never thought I would see the day lol. As for the episode itself, it's interesting that the first part of the episode is basically a recap for people who watched the original DBZ(and later, Kai) and then like never watched anything else past that. We do get beautiful animation for the major arcs from the Buu saga. The new characters are interesting in what their motivation is for turning the main characters into kids. And it does have that signature DB humor that Toriyama is known for. It's a good episode to start the show.

I already mentioned this before but it's still wild to me that this takes place before Super. It's just so funny how much death and destruction happened before the tournament with Uub in the last episode of DBZ.:p

The legacy of the late, great, legendary Akira Toriyama continues as Dragon Ball returns with a new chapter set between the Buu-saga and Super! We'll even recap the original DB up to the finale of Z!

Our new villains hail from none other than the demon realm, featuring pint-sized Gomah (Showtaro Morikubo!) and none other than the Supreme Kai's brother Degesu (Junya Enoki)! Look at them watch the Buu Saga lovingly reanimated, including the Goku vs Majin Vegeta fight! And react in real time to all the plot twists including Dabura's death which puts Gomah in charge of the demon realm.

Not only does Supreme Kai have a brother, but he also has a total evil babe of a sister in Dr. Arinsu, voiced phenomenally by Yoko Hikasa! She's definitely one you want to watch out for, especially because she and her ample chest are so nice to look at!

Classic Dragon Ball, bad guys planning to get the Dragon Balls for their nefarious plots and take the Z Fighters out before they can stop them. Though I have a feeling somebody will need to fight the Tamagami to get the Demon Realm Dragon Balls.

Dabasu's dad was Abasu? Yeah, that checks out.

That's classic Dragon Ball humor with old and senile Namek Neva being smelly and getting into hover car hijinks with Gomah and Degesu.

So mechanical fish control gateways to other universes? Sure, why not?

Happy Birthday Trunks! No better way to celebrate the end of the Buu-saga and everything getting back to normal!

That's our Goku! Continuing to be unable to connect with his sons' interest, eating like a glutton, and getting into a sparring match with Vegeta.

Feel bad for Dende and Mr. Popo. Didn't get to go to the party, but instead get confronted by the bad guys and have to watch as Neva basically speedruns collecting the Dragon Balls. Also, Namekians apparently hail from the demon realm!

I appreciate the effort Dende but this really is not the time for juice Mr. Popo!

"Make them babies!" - Poor Goten and Trunks keep de-aging.

Goku is a kid! Again! Wait, now everybody is a kid. This is like GT but more!

I love how the OP is really fun and upbeat and basically advertising the show.

A new Dragon Ball series at long last! :D :D

Wow, loved the 10 min. recap and seeing all the DB and DBZ redone in beautiful animation. But so bittersweet with Toriyama-sensei's passing.

Ah, so Daima is a special (made up) in-universe Japanese word for Demons. Dragon Ball Daima = Dragon Ball Demon.

Surprised by all those revelations. Turns out the Namekians were originally from the Demon Realm so Piccolo's title in the original DB series was spot on, lol. Could even Mr. Popo be from Demon Realm? The Majins seem to be a whole group in Demon Realm, there's 3 worlds, 3 guardians called Tamagami that guard that world's Dragon Balls...oooo, definitely the Z team are gonna fight them. Can't wait to see what that dragon looks like. Seems like he's named Porunga, too. Doesn't seem to be 3 wishes. Holy moley, their idea for the second wish --- were they talking about Tien's third eye maybe?! That's wild Supreme Kai's brother and sister are in Demon Realm (and demons can become kaioshin...) This Gomah is the new king succeeding Dabura. lol, another subtle callback. Dragon Ball started with a scheming minuscule royal as the big bad.

And the joke is complete. Dabura and his dad Abura's name are each taken from "Abracadabra". heh heh.

Hmm, seems Babidi was a bad seed on Demon World and the only threat to the royals, too, and yup, his aspirations were to rule all worlds. Interesting Gomah and Degesu didn't know about Ki and thought it magic, too. And Dr. Arinsu clearly has her own agenda. Almost afraid to ask what her research is... Ah, some cheese-cake lite stuff and lmao, she was still in the throne room!

Senile, smelly, slow walking Namek. Gold. lol. "I think I took one years ago when I fell in mud." rofl.

Big mecha fish guard the dimensional boundaries. Huhn. Shrug. "I guess I'll let you go." rofl.

Ha, Goku took a pot shot at Vegeta's height. :D

Ha, and Majin's gas can undo a Potara ring fusion. Ok. Shrug.

Gohan back to studying. Yeah...

They even did a nod to the Garlic Gun vs. Kamehameha, lol. But Goku thought of a new counter all these years, lol. It was a surprise to see Vegeta back in his Cell-era battle armor. Wow, so it starts out basically 9 years after the DBZ Android arc.

"You're right. Something happened." :D Gotta love that DB humor.

Pretty interesting visually Neva looked like Kami down to the purple cloak and wooden cane. edit: He looks really similar to Monaito from the Granolah arc yet to be adapted into the anime. But they're likely descendants of Neva and the Dragon Clan.

Whoa, the Dragon Ball makers can break the rules and summon + revive Dragon Balls even if a year hasn't passed?! Looks like there was a lot Kami didn't know about.

"You're a picky one." :D :D

Definitely feels like old school Toriyama humor - all this happened because two dummies incorrectly feared they were next...

It is just the first episode, but it was a bit exposition heavy, especially with ten minutes of recaps to start off. Maybe seeing the three episode premiere in theaters is the way to go, since we didn’t really make it to any battles yet.

The new Demon King villain definitely gives off Pilaf vibes. Pilaf made a wish for Goku to be a kid at the start of GT, but didn’t play much of a role in the rest of GT. This new character is bound to play a bigger role. It’s hard to see the demon world accepting him as a ruler, since he seems so much less imposing than Dabura. Maybe he will use more wishes to make himself big and strong.

The Namekian seems to have a strong command on the guardian role, but he is very old. I was surprised to see him able to summon and revive the stone Dragon Balls, since Guru, Mori, Dende, Kami, etc never showed this ability. He can even do it on Dragon Balls he didn’t personally create. Why did he go along with the Demon King’s scheme? Just so he could get a wish for youth? He already created the Dragon Balls in the Demon World and could just use them to wish for that. The guardians shouldn’t be an issue for him, since they’re his own creations too. Even if they’re overly protective of the Dragon Balls, couldn’t he just summon the balls to him?

Mostly senility I thought. Maybe a bit of obeying the Demon King's order to come with him. Maybe he was eager to see another Namekian.

As for the others not having that ability, maybe it's only unlocked when they reach a certain age. It's implied Neva is thousands of years old, could be the oldest Namekian in the franchise.

He already created the Dragon Balls in the Demon World and could just use them to wish for that. The guardians shouldn’t be an issue for him, since they’re his own creations too. Even if they’re overly protective of the Dragon Balls, couldn’t he just summon the balls to him?
There could be unrevealed rules regarding the wishes using his Dragon Balls that even he can't override i.e. you can't wish for the same thing over again or he banned himself from being able to make a wish when he made them.

It was a good compromise to get set the board: honor the 40 years of the franchise, remind fans what happened prior to the event's of this brand new show and to set where it is in the timeline since the show is jumping back in time to pre-Dragon Ball Super, and summarize the Buu saga which directly relates to this show. Perhaps in retrospect, they could have premiered 2 episodes to off-set the recap's run time.

This article clarifies (or I just didn't realize until now): Dragon Ball Daima is coming to Crunchyroll on October 11th, but then to Netflix on October 18th.

So you can watch on either, but Netflix (where I'll be watching) will be a week behind....

Had a good chuckle at Kibito telling Bulma that's he's not an errand boy when it comes to retrieving stuff. Also, it was interesting to see Goku and co. adjusting to the fact that because they're kids again, they can't necessarily do the same stuff like they could when they were adults, such as flying. Was there an adjustment period for Goku in GT when he was turned into a kid? Also, it's nice seeing the Nyoibō/Power Pole again, feeling the DB vibes.

Ha ha, blew up in your face, Gomah. Only 1 wish for newbies! Can't summon twice in row. If he did it in Demon Realm, even he'd have to right the Tamagami. Ha! Takes Dende. Ulp.

lol, yes, Bulma would admire her returned youth first and Krillin checked his head. :D Whoa, so that's Roshi as a kid.

And Neva is a legend even Piccolo/Kami knew about.

Nice DBZ callback, Bulma called upon to fix a derelict alien ship.

Aaaand Piccolo right into the tree after he calls out Goku, lmao. I also liked they addressed they had to get used to their bodies rather than immediately. Should be interesting when they hit Super Saiyan. Wonder if they'll get to Super Saiyan 2 and 3.

Hmm, I guess Gomah will force them to gather the Demon Realm Dragon Balls and fight the Tamagami for him so he can get on with his wishes?

Ah, so way back when demons could choose live a free life or conquer other realms but it got restricted because there was too much of a mass exodus and probably because the Majins wreaked too much havoc they had to appease the other realms.

Hee hee, Kibito is a not a delivery boy.

Nyoibo! A clothesline? LMAO.

So the Nameks left because they didn't want to be ruled anymore. Makes sense.

King of Third Demon World wants to overthrow Gomah because he's a Majin and sent Glorio? Intriguing. Not surprised Gomah didn't exactly appease everyone o.s. last episode. Ok, so Majin aren't just pink guys like Buu.

Not too surprised the first two were set up but looks like episode 3 is when the journey and action kicks off. Opinion hasn't changed, would have preferred a two episode premiere. But if they chose the first 3 to screen, the antics and action must be good in 3.

Just realized that wherever you want to watch Daima (whether on Crunchyroll or Netflix), it's actually the Subtitled version that's airing. And I just remembered the first two or three episodes of the English version are premiering in theaters soon.

So yeah, I'm holding off on watching the series for now.

Well, it's nice knowing Shenron's been rewarding his regulars all this time and Gomah doesn't get the same courtey of three wishes so easily.

The OP is really fun and action-packed, featuring a lot of colorful visuals, a song that basically advertises the show itself, and Goku and co.'s adventures in the Demon World.

Baby Dende is cute! Less cute is him getting kidnapped!

(So Mr. Popo is probably a demon, huh?)

It's GT! Only now everybody is younger or tiny-sized! Even Mister Satan and Master Roshi! That's surreal.

Of course the ladies would enjoy being young again (Bulma especially) and Bulma loves cute kid Vegeta.

I love how Goten and Trunks are so close they can basically talk to each other through baby telepathy and still get along.

Poor Kibito reduced to Bulma's delivery service.

World-building! The Namekkians were once residents of the Demon World before they left for freedom and found Planet Namek.

Well, I guess the time it takes Bulma to fix the Supreme Kai's ship gives Goku time to learn to manage his new body. But if he's having a range issue, it's time to reach out to an old friend...not Karin, but Nyoibo/Power Pole! Better of use to Goku than hanging Master Roshi's laundr .

Glorio arrives! A stoic and serious young man voiced by Kouki Uchiyama! He's seemingly recruiting Goku to stop Gomah but can they trust him?

Looks like it'll be a while before the team is all together, but for now it's Goku, Supreme Kai, and Glorio exploring the Demon World together!

The new ED is really cute with the gang having plenty of adventures in the Demon World!

I guess Yajirobe isn’t in this series. He didn’t appear with Korin at the tower. I thought he would reveal he was using the power pole since Goku left it at the tower.

Interesting how Shenron can chose how many wishes he wants to grant, and favors repeat customers. I guess we can assume Bulma is his favorite customer, after Super Hero revealed she routinely gathers the Dragon Balls to wish for youth and beauty. Does he enjoy being a glorified plastic surgeon? I imagine he’d rather be summoned by a hot girl for vanity reasons than by supervillains. The days of GT where we have embarrassed Shadow Dragons mad about panties wishes are over.

Episode 3 "Daima" - October 25, 2024
Goku, Supreme Kai, and Glorio head out to the "Demon Realm" first. Their plane travels through space and a mysterious dimension. They arrive at the entrance to the Demon Realm, the "Third Demon World"!

Yeah, totally feeling those stares Supreme Kai gave Glorio. Don't trust him just yet...

lmao, forgot how thick young Goku was. He almost botched it. But yeah... how's the next set of characters going to get past Warp?

"This and that"? So Glorio's a merc? lol. He's pretty nimble and strong despite the heavy gas.

Ooh, a bit a class warfare in the explanation of the three worlds. And Supreme Kai is from Second World and is a "Glind".

heh, bit an Old West town that don't take kindly to strangers. The gun has rank to it. Ok. lol, watch out, Glorio. Treat Goku to food and you'll go broke. At least there's hamburgers there. And wolf demon - totally got me thinking of the Star Wars cantina, heh.

ha! Guess they'll have to go fight this town's Jabba the Hutt. This is what I loved about the original stories. Definitely going back to the Journey to the West vibes and getting mixed up with the locals as they go from place to place.

wow, only a couple weeks until Christmas already. this year has gone by so fast.
My Spanish final grade is being calculated RN. Keep in mind, most of my tests I didn't do good on. One test I got a 49, and on the latest test the score hasn't come in yet so it's in the placeholder grade of a 0, and right now that zero currently counts towards the calculations.

All that said, my current grade- zero test included- is a 90.41%. An A.

(insert "you're the best around" song here)
Well, I still would like to see Netflix do more with the "three episodes per week" format after Arcane. The final arc of The Dragon Prince could ultilise this, should it be greenlit after the upcoming release of Book Seven: Dark in eight days' time.
Would love to see Five Guys open a restaurant in Portugal one day.
