Does there really need to be a whole new Doug show? I like the Nick version (no comment on Disney's though, never saw that), but what I'm thinking is that they could just make TV movies rather than reviving classics. I think that might just work better, or at least an occasional special. I mean, isn't the Splat more than enough to satisfy them for their "let's keep this nostalgia hype train going" thing they got going on recently? The Hey Arnold TV movie sounds really exciting, so why not just do one for Doug?

I rewatched Doug on the Splat, and I gotta say, this show is pretty lame. But I understand it's trying to cover young kid problems, but in a way that'll appeal to first graders.
I think a webseries will be more appropriate, as the shorter runtime would suit the show's overall feel as it feels slow even in its original 11 minute runtime.

Edit: I could imagine bringing Doug who graduated college like in this fan-film trailer. ;-)

Seriously - these YouTubers should just make their own live - action show of this. It would at least turn out better and perfectly portray once and for all what Doug truly is - NOT. A. CARTOON. Just a live action sitcom aimed at kids, masquerading as a cartoon.

Some of these reactions are surprisingly intense for something that isn't even confirmed to have a revival. Even in the article, there wasn't anything solid indicating that a Doug revival is a strong possibility at this point. It only had a brief mention while the majority of the article was focused on the upcoming Hey Arnold movie, so I don't see the need to get so upset over something that has no guarantee of happening yet.

Personally, I think that Doug is an okay show. I enjoyed it back in the day and I can enjoy it now as well, even though some of Doug's reactions to his daily problems are a bit extreme too. That episode on where he tries to eat liver and onions is a prime example of that. It's not one of the best Nicktoons around in my opinion, but it's far from the worse. It's generally okay. With all of that being said, I don't know if I'd really want a Doug revival. I'm just not sure how a Doug revival could work and I don't think it's one of the Nicktoons that I'd really like to see a continuation of. If they do decide to revive Doug, I would be curious how they'd go about doing and check it out, but it's not something that I'm going to demand to see either.

I'm just saying (as someone who, as I have already admitted, has always liked Doug) that even if a Doug reboot occurred, I don't think it would go over very well. As some people have already mentioned, it's a bit too mundane and down-to-earth for today's TV animation market of wacky, fantastical, and sometimes emotion-driven shows. Even We Bare Bears and Clarence are still pretty crazy despite being a lot less crazy than, say, The Amazing World Of Gumball and Gravity Falls. Heck, it was even seen as mundane and down-to-earth compared to Rugrats, Rocko's Modern Life, or even Hey Arnold back in the day.

Quite simply, I don't think a lot of people miss Doug enough for them to be open to a reboot of the show, and I'm not just going by people's reactions here. Heck, as I've said already, even I don't think a Doug reboot could work very well, speaking as one of the few folks on here who still have fond memories of the show. :p

Well, the show started out on Nick and then the rights were given to Disney, so you might as well give Tuner/Cartoon Network a shot. Go for the trifecta!

I truly doubt this show will be seeing a proper reboot any time soon. The demand for one can't be that great.

Words cannot describe how impossible this would be, given all the legal ramifications involved. Although Nickelodeon still owns the rights to the original episodes of Doug, Disney owns the rights to all the subsequent episodes, plus the rights to continue the series if they so desire. So I seriously doubt this is ever going to happen unless Disney is at the helm.
