IGN reports an animated series based on the Devil May Cry video games is in the works at Netflix. There are not many details available yet, but It will be developed by Adi Shankar, also Executive Producer for the Castlevania animated show (a show it will apparently join in a supposedly "bootleg multiverse", as he calls it).

Note the article above has some foul language in it.

A Devil May Cry series by Western creators should be interesting (and hopefully fair better then DmC did) :).

I wonder if they'll bring in the VA's from the games? I can imagine quite a few people will be expecting Reuben Langdon to reprise Dante .

Skylanders Academy had a few voice actors from the games reprising their roles, so it's possible here.

Frankly I wanna see a western Street Fighter series, with Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, Kyle Hybert, Rueben Langdon, Gerald C River Taliesin Jaffe and GK Bowes return as their respective roles.

For anyone replacing other roles from the games I could see Jennifer Hale as C Viper and Grey Griffin or Kari Wahlgren as Juri.

Or for a Resident Evil western cartoon, I could see either Troy Baker or Sam Witter as Leon Kennedy, if not bring back either Roger Craig Smith or Matt Mercer.

But I'm probably going off track.

Hoping they don't adapt the plot of Devil May Cry 2 at some point. That game was awful, and it almost killed the franchise.

They should at least adapt the plot of Devil May Cry 3 as well.

It looks promising. Too bad Reuben Langdon wasn't brought in to reprise Dante. Sounds like Bosch is voicing him here.

"Netflix Teases Devil May Cry Anime, Plus Other Video Game Cartoons"

"On the same night Netflix put out a release date for Arcane, they also lifted the lid on a lot of projects in the works similar to it and Castlevania and every other stylish animated adaption of a video game they have done. There is a lot more on the way!

Like Devil May Cry, based on the Capcom series and from Adi Shankar, the same director of Castlevania (also that bizarre Captain Laserhawk show that was a satirical mix of Ubisoft properties). Like the games, the anime will follow Dante the demon hunter as he leaps, somersaults, and performs lots of other acrobatic moves while firing his guns at monsters. Dante is searching for the one who killed his mother, but he doesn’t seem THAT broken up about his loss.

Devil May Cry is being animated by Studio MIR with a targeted release window of April 2025. That’s a slip from when this show was first announced — Netflix originally said we’d get it before 2024 was through, but that’s not happening."

"Netflix’s Devil May Cry Anime Launches April 3"

"Netflix slapped a date on Studio MIR’s anime adaption of Devil May Cry today — you can expect the first season to appear early this April. In addition, they gave us a taste of what to expect with the full opening title sequence…

Limp Bizkit, huh? That’s an interesting choice. Though the DMC video game series had an entry five years ago, it’s most remembered for the era when it was young and at the peak of its popularity — the early 2000s. Showrunner Asi Shankar says the choice of music was indeed intentionally picked to evoke that era.

Shankar said on social media that the Devil May Cry anime “is set in a late ’90s/early 2000s PS2 era of the world. It’s not set in modern times. It’s set in my memory of the world, pre- and post-9/11. My music choices reflect this. My series features a mix of hits from that era and greatest musical hits from the DMC franchise reimagined by [synthwave duo Power Glove].” Power Glove never composed music for DMC, but they have contributed to video games (Far Cry 3 features their work)."

What do you mean a Megas XLR reboot was rejected? There was even one going to happen in the first place?

I find it ironic how in the age of reboots/revivals, there are those getting vetoed, usually for stupid reasons (Jimmy Neutron not being "diverse enough", anyone?)
