Note: Once a DTV title is officially announced, it will be spun off into its own thread. Even if a title has been confirmed as in production, we will wait until an official announcement before creating a thread for said title.

Note #2: DC Universe Animated Original Movie line rebranded DC Comics Premiere Movie as of Superman vs. The Elite. It has been rebranded back to DC Universe Animated Original Movie as of The Dark Knight Returns.

As good as the movies are adapting comic book stories I'd like to see them do an original story for once.
Well, Justice League: Crisis on Two Worlds was an original story. Granted, it was originally meant to be a bridge between the Justice League animated series and Justice League Unlimited. Green Lantern: First Flight and the Wonder Woman animated movie were original takes on those heroes' respective origins. Baman: Gotham Knight and Green Lantern: Emerald Knights were not adaptations.

Yeah but that was YEARS ago. It's about high time we got something new because sooner or later we're going to run of stuff to adapt.

Well, COTW was original but not made for the movie, it was a story that already existed, sure, it got tweaked, but it was already done. And weren't most of the shorts in Emerald Knights adaptations from comics? I know for sure the Mogo one was.

I'd love to see some adaptations from famous comic books but also new original stories... maybe 2 adaptations and 1 original a year? I don't know...

the point of no return
I think everything hinges on the success of the Justice League film. It will allow the creators to stretch out into adapting other heroes and JL stories.

I hope we see some other characters get some movies. Another Wonder Woman movie, Green Lantern movie, solo Flash movie, a Green Arrow movie, etc. Next year starts with the untitled Aquaman movie. Let's see which characters are tackled next. Especially if some of these movies are in the same universe. It might explain where Aquaman was in Justice League War past the post-credit scene, or what the other characters like Wonder Woman and Flash are doing now, similar to Son of Batman.

Supposedly Green Arrow is set to have a role in a DTV soon. This was said back at Wonder Con 2013 I believe. Have to dig around. This was the same time it was said Riddler would appear in one by 2015 and here he is, appearing in Batman: Assault on Arkham.

Thanks. It will be cool to see Green Arrow take a lead role (if that is the case) in one of these animated features. And now we know the Aquaman movie is called Justice League: Throne of Atlantis. I would like to see Green Arrow and Flash team-up, maybe to bounce off Arrow and The Flash shows. It's nice to see DC's animated movies experiment with different characters unlike their live-action counterpart (though that seems set to change). I hope some of these characters get their name in the title too, instead of using the Justice League to sell the movie.

Green Arrow DTV? Too bad for me. Eh well, at least it's easy to justify, what with the live-action series and all. If that's the case, maybe a true Flash movie is in the works, and I can totally get behind that.

Hold up. I said "supposedly". He could just be a supporting character that gets the spotlight (i.e. Son of Batman, major focus on Damian). He know they have at least one Green Arrow script in the vault, though.

It's time they start giving us other stories though. How about giving us adaptations of The Killing Joke, Flash Rebirth, Rot World (the Swamp Thing/Animal Man cross over), Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?, Quiver (Green Arrow), Games or The Terror of Trigon (New Teen Titans), Six Gun War, and The Great Darkness Saga?!

Well... hopefully, the third DTV for next year will be something really unique and interesting. I'm still an advocate for the odd original story.

Third? We are just hitting the halfway point of this year. There is still plenty of time for DTVs to come out between Now and Dec.

Such as the Aquaman movie they promised and are not making?
Provide a link where they supposedly promised to make a stand alone Aquaman movie. I'm thinking some attendee misinterpreted what was said at a panel. The only other thing I can think of is the old Adam Green script that was shelved awhile back.

I believe they are only doing three a year, so I would expect Throne of Atlantis to drop around January/February.

I actually think they release them too close together. They should stick to a February/July/October schedule.

I agree as that seems weird to have Assault next month and then the next movie not until Feb. They should do them every quarter. I don't want to wait until Oct of next year to get a non-Superman/Batman character movie.

Have to agree here. I don't remember all the press releases, but I don't recall ever being under the belief we were ever going to get an Aquaman solo. That's on the article writer, not on DC/WB.

If I remember correctly, we were told that Aquaman would get a film the same way that Apocalypse was a Supergirl film, and Flashpoint Paradox was a Flash film. AKA, a film where Aquaman is the main focus, but still a Justice League film, which is what we're getting.
