Cartoon Network has returned to Australia on the Fetch TV streaming platform, the channel originally left the country in May 2025, with HBO Max as its replacement. Foxtel was the channel's only provider.

The channel has been described as a virtual playlist channel, but most versions of Cartoon Network have been a bit like this since the European feed mergers and the international rollout of HBO Max.

This follows Paramount Skydance's withdrawal of their pay-TV channels from the local market, including the pay-TV version of Nickelodeon, also Nick Jr, and Nick Music. The FTA version of Nickelodeon is not affected.

Somehow, CN Australia returned. Stronger as ever.

Who knows when CN RSEE switched to 24-hour broadcasting? The news says March 2011, but according to 2013 recordings, the channel was still giving up nighttime hours to TCM

1st January 2014 from what I read and remember, not long after I joined the ToonZone/Anime Superhero Forums, I think Bulgaria was the last hold out for the TCM timeshare:

Bulgaria stopped having TCM as of January 1, 2014.

On HBO Max in Western Europe, they removed the entire scene in the Ed, Edd n Eddy episode "Pop Goes the Ed" where Sarah finds the Eds frozen solid inside the freezer, the Eds slide out of it, she kicks them out of the house and the Eds melt into liquid. It's because the Eds (desperate to keep themselves cool amid the heat) trapped themselves inside a freezer, which is potentially dangerous imitable behavior.

Was it ever removed from Cartoon Network feeds in EMEA before?

No, the scene was intact when I was a kid.

What does CN/WBD EMEA have against scenes featuring people inside freezers? I never imitated that as a child. The only things I tried to imitate were the Red Guy buttwalking (when I was a baby) and me running the home hallway and saying Mr. Herriman's initial catchphrase: no running in the halls.

Coinciding with massive changes: CN EMEA being withdrawn from Portugal for good (also, Albania and Kosovo for what I was told, being replaced there with CN RSEE), TNT Netherlands shutting down and the end of TCM in the RSEE region.

There were still companies in Romania which timeshared CN CEE with TNT Romania.

Also in that same episode on HBO Max in Western Europe, they muted Kevin saying "stupid" in his line "To Nazz's sprinkler party, stupid!", in addition to muting his off-screen line "You're not invited!" on the episode's English audio track. The changes don't seem to apply to the foreign audio tracks, however.

My working theory is that these edits were originally made specifically for Cartoon Network UK airings of the show, and were not applied to the separate HQ/Africa feed that Portugal received between 2001 and 2013. Either that or these are brand-new prints made in 2025 (though they still use preexisting dubs nonetheless).

I stick with the theory that these were recent edits. What is it with censoring "stupid", I remember the whole controversy when the EMEA versions of Regular Show censored "moron". What's next, censoring "stupid dog" from Courage?

At least "stupid dog" isn't censored in any of the Courage the Cowardly Dog episodes available on HBO Max in Western Europe.

At least a lot of the scenes showing Ice Bear inside a fridge from We Bare Bears is left intact on CN EMEA feeds, although even a few of them were cut out like shortening Chloe putting Ice Bear in and out of the fridge in “Bear Flu”.

I don't think CN will be leaving Sky Italia anytime soon, The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball events at Lucca Comics and Games 2025 had Sky branding all over it, if the channels were to be removed I don't think it will be within in the next few months at least.

Interesting, I have also seen a few ads for this

My insider doesn't exclude internal agreements might have been found, as Sky still needs HBO content from WBD.
Plus, it is even possible CN Italy might continue as a replacement of one of the current free-to-air channels :)

I think i'm slowly getting used to 60FPS interpolation now that I have a TV with it
I still wish if Netflix should have added any CN shows that are removed from HBO Max... Still wish if they added like Summer Camp Island, etc. :(
