So here's something surprising. A video game based on the 2019 Carmen Sandiego series is coming out in early 2025. I figured we wouldn't hear from the show again given how it ended back in 2021. As the trailer says, you get to play as Carmen rather than try to stop her.

"“Carmen Sandiego” Video Game (Based On Netflix Show) Coming In 2025"

"The 2019 Carmen Sandiego series was a show that found it’s own audience and generated praise, even with the change from making the titular Carmen into a protagonist rather than an antagonist. The series won an Emmy award for “Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation” in 2019 (or background painter Elaine Lee), and multiple “Annie” nominations and awards (including for storyboarding and character design). Now we get a return to the show (in a sense) in the form of a video game coming in 2025. Here’s what you need to know:

The newest video game, simply titled “Carmen Sandiego”, for the first time sees you play as Carmen, rather than trying to capture her. The game follows Carmen as she goes on a globetrotting adventure to track down VILE and stop them before they carry out their plans. That’s as far as we know about the general plot. Scenes like Carmen hang gliding and grappling hook seem to capture the excitement of what makes the show work. As for release date and release method, it’s coming out during the first quarter of 2025. It’ll be available on Netflix, PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation. Gameloft and Harper Collins Productions (the latter of whom worked on the show) will be in charge of this game."

A(n in name only) game based on Netflix show (that tries to make a seemingly uncatchable criminal look more sympathetic*) based on a classic computer game.

In any event, you’re not supposed to “be” Carmen Sandiego, you’re supposed to catch her, and I'll leave it at that.

Hard pass.

*I know it’s not the first show to do this, but still.

I don't understand how Toy Story 5 will work unless it's a flashback of events we didn't see from Toy Story 4.

I am incapable of binge watching. I won't do it. Unfortunately, many shows on streaming are made to be binged.
It's a shame what has happened to the Internet Archive. Tons of lost media and pieces of history might be gone forever if the site isn't back up.
