Shame I'm reacting like this to Episode 9, but yeah... Especially after how actually decent Episodes 6 to 8 were, but yeah... I gotta be hard on this show, because for something everyone loves, I never felt it was good as everyone says it is, even from the very beginning, honestly.

I mean, if I can quote things from someone else's perspective and agree close to 100% with them, too:

The history of the television sitcom is filled with 'Dumb Dad' characters to the point that it's become an official genre trope:
* Homer Simpson in The Simpsons
* Tom DuBois is The Boondocks
* Tim Taylor in Home Improvement
* Hal Wilkerson in Malcolm in the Middle
* etc.

Men who are prone to making bad decisions, men who desperately want life to be better and on whom Life always messes with unchecked; men whose character flaws frequently lead themselves and often their families into trouble, and so on.

Homer is stupid, Tom is spineless, Tim is impulsive, Hal is selfish... but all of these men are portrayed in their respective shows of being at least *capable* of putting aside their own desires and overcoming their inherent character flaws, especially when it concerns doing what's best for their families.
Yes, Homer is a moron, but he's frequently shown to be capable of incredible thoughtfulness and selfless acts for his family.
Yes, Hal is incredibly selfish and self-centered, but he's frequently shown to be capable of making sacrifices to protect his sons.
And so on.

Jerry is not one of these characters.
Jerry is stupid, spineless, impulsive, selfish, etc., and for that, he deserves so much worse, but we basically never see any kind of redeeming qualities from his character.
We don't really see him connecting on an emotional level with his family, we don't really see him being willing to make sacrifices for their benefit, we don't really see him being thoughtful or caring, we don't really see him developing any kind of self-awareness or humility.
He's like an amalgamation of all of the worst aspects of every 'Dumb Dad' character without any of the redeeming qualities that make such characters endearing, engaging, and interesting in spite of their character flaws.
Admittedly, that's the writers' fault for writing Jerry that way, but that doesn't change the fact that the character is so... blatantly/pretty much irredeemable.

Wait, so that clone thing from last season was true, or...

Better than that pickle plan.

I never got an invisibility belt.

Oh yeah, what every one wants to do with an invisbility belt.

Beth clones, family therapy, the Federation, Shoney's...they're revisiting season three.
Next they'll bring back szechuan sauce.

In order to provide camaraderie, cheerleaders should shower together, at the same time.

Morty's a creeper too. They have the mentality of Sanji from One Piece.

Ooh. Did they get Susan Sarandon back?

Oops. Spoke too soon. And I got her name.

Okay, nevermind. She's dead again. Make up your mind show!

Why do ships always explode when the pilots die? Wouldn't most of them just float ineffectually in space?

Father of the year.

Yay! McDonald's! Maybe we can get some szechuan sauce!

Capable of destroying entire planets, but no bathrooms.

When we last met I was the Bird Person. Now I am the Phoenix Person.

Hey, a planet full of free jeans.

You know Beth, talking to yourself is the first sign of insanity.

Mecha-Birdperson!

Rick is pretty strong for a senior citizen (though I guess a lot of that could be technology enhancements)

And Rick realizes he's a terrible father and friend. Oh well, at least the kids have two moms now.

Season 3 finale: Jerry Wins

Season 4 finale: Beth(s) Wins

Just as well. An invisible garbage truck would have been a tremendous traffic hazard.

Hello, here. Are you living in a Hungarian city?
Is it me or is marketing for modern cartoons going through some kind of dark age right now?
This is darkly hilarious.
