Not to go too off topic, but sure I guess I can see the comparison, but I’m not too familiar with Animorphs (besides the TV show from Nick).

Okay hopefully this is the last one off topic but it was the book where the leader character was sent into an alternate future where they were all adults where most his friends/fellow team mates were working for the evil regime they originally opposed (the female who opposed was seen as crazy not to be trusted) and the leader was confused as they were just their regular age going to be before waking up to this world. That is revealed at the end to be some sort of test which yeah at best in Animorphs was suppose to be some sort of "would you choose the world or one of your friends" bits which you could vaguely say hints at the finale but like it had more of a purpose in KND.

Well, that’s Warner Bros for ya. I’ll never forgive them for adding Rick and Morty as a cameo before half of the Cartoon Network characters get to even a chance to appear in Space Jam 2.

Yeah Dexter's Lab or Powerpuff Girls would have made more sense. Plus they wouldn't have made cynical references to it within the actual narrative about how horrible an idea it is. And I'm not against Rick and Morty doing so as those are funny jokes and it is their brand just saying from a business perspective that was a bad idea.

I 100% agree it sucks, but the reason why I call it a cash grab because it was another way for WB to milk the franchise as possible. I understand from a business standpoint, but that doesn’t mean the audience deserves to be spoonfed with slop.

If you're talking about the concept itself then that is a cash grab on principal sure but honestly, that doesn't mean it had to be bad. Like extensions of the brand in other avenues be it the comics or games from Rick and Morty you could see as cash grabs but those have fans and at least offer something of value. They could have easily done so and at least justified making this show. I mean Suicide Squad Iseki isn't anything groundbreaking but it actually has FUN using the actual Suicide Squad characters and the whole Iseki concept to tell solid jokes with good action which this series couldn't even do.

I get what Sano was trying to go for, but just because you can do something like this doesn’t mean you should do it. I’ll be fine with the anime if it was shorts. Just not a full show, in my opinion.

Oddly enough which should have given more of a warning of this project not being that good but of the original anime youtube shorts made which got this actual anime greenlit, Sano's shorts were clearly the worst. But I guess he was also the one who wanted to make his own show from the concept which yeah was clearly a bad idea they went with regardless.

I mean, that’s fair, but I’m talking about the concept alone. I wouldn’t even hate this anime so much if it had something to do with the actual source material rather than just in name only.

Sure. Not to say the shorts were better then the anime, they can be just as bad as the anime for all I know, but at least I don’t mind them too much because they have something to do with Rick and Morty. Again, not saying it’s good either, but at least it’s better than the stupid ass anime we got.

The News Team's Jonn Jonzz has a new review up on the front page of AnimeSuperhero.com:

"Review: Rick And Morty The Anime: Failing To Meet Expectations"

Rick-and-Morty-Anime-2.webp

"From its very first lineup, Adult Swim was always a strange fusion of animated sitcoms, absurdist reinterpretations of classic cartoons, and anime. From these core Adult Swim elements comes a fusion of many aspects of Adult Swim: Rick and Morty the Anime. This bizarre series takes the wildly popular Rick and Morty sci-fi comedy animated series, and reinterprets it as a Toonami action anime, with some aspects of Adult Swim Action’s more philosophical anime. While the series seems straightforward, with Rick and Morty fighting evil space bugs, the plot is confusing from the start. The first episode presents us with a series of random events told out of sequence, and things don’t get any clearer even by the final episode, which confusingly ends with a scene set much earlier in the series.

New characters like Frank pop in and out throughout the series, without ever really explaining who they are or what they want. The most notable new character is Morty’s girlfriend Elle, who replaced Jessica from the original series as Morty’s new crush. Unfortunately, she has little in the way of personality. Her power to reset reality is so overblown that it takes away any tension from the show. With her powers over life and death, this character comes across as too perfect and too powerful."

I did end up watching the rest of this show after the initial fury died down. I don't why I bothered, it was just as terrible after ten episodes as it was after two. Massively pretentious and dull as dishwater, it barely even qualifies as a remake of the original Rick and Morty due to how little these versions of the characters act like their original selves. It was essentially an animated fanfic aired on national television, and there are probably hundreds of Rick and Morty fanfics that would have made for a better show than what we got. This debacle should be a lesson to creatives for decades to come, but I'm almost certain it will be forgotten about in less than a year, only to be referenced as an obscure bit of trivia.

Whatever, let us just shove the lid on this show's coffin and move on.

Happy 60th anniversary to A Charlie Brown Christmas and 22nd anniversary to I want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown!
Half a decade in and so many amazing cartoons have been released, hopefully this continues into the decade.

Do you have Discord?
I think i'm slowly getting used to 60FPS interpolation now that I have a TV with it
I still wish if Netflix should have added any CN shows that are removed from HBO Max... Still wish if they added like Summer Camp Island, etc. :(
