Tonight marks the return of an old friend.

Outlaw Star, one of the best series to ever come out of Toonami's golden age, returns to the block that made "bagua sanfa" a household word.* With brand new HD tapes no less, which means fewer if any edits for content and language this time around.

Maybe they'll also put on that hot springs episode they skipped over back then. Who knows, I mean, they'd only have to edit one thing, I think everything else could fly...

Anyway, for the newer watchers, what is Outlaw Star all about?

Well, in a nutshell...aspiring yet unlucky young entrepreneurs, spaceships with arms, space pirates, Tao magic, bounty hunters, android girls, samurai assassins, cat people, shipboard computers who nag you like K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider, conquering your fears, chasing your dreams, exploring the vast unknown...

...oh yeah, and the greatest treasure hunt in the known universe.

But hey, the original promo could explain it better than I could:

To those who watched it the first time, welcome back (and don't post spoilers).
To those who are watching it for the first time, sit back and enjoy the ride. You are all in for a TREAT.

*Technically, it's also the show's return to Adult Swim, since it was on the very first ASA block back in 2002. Unless you count that pre-revival April Fool's Day thing.

Welcome back, Outlaw Star. I seem to recall Melfina is fairly standard but not without some working character on her part, and besides which.....well, I can't be sure whether or not to talk about given characters because I'm worried about spoilers, but I'm sure people can guess.

Well Kids, welcome to what was probably the second most controversial anime back from Toonami's Golden age, back when Afterschool cartoon blocks ruled kids days, the Internet was slow, and Cable was the only way to truly enjoy anime for most.

This show was amazing when it first came out, with mature content yet not to the point of being unable to be shown to a teenage audience. Of course, Digital edits were needed to do that, and you'll find out why.

Outlaw Star is one of my favorite Space Westerns. Firefly may have been better dialogue, but Outlaw Star was FUN. Right from the Op, the show is a wild ride.

And now, after more than 16 years, I'm finally jumping on the Outlaw Star wagon (just wish it aired a bit sooner than 2:30 AM).

Now for the show that apparently inspired Firefly, which I also haven't seen.

One of the most Troperiffic anime ever made, according to JesuOtaku (from TVTropes, actually):
"This show gets a free pass for being the most wish-fulfilling sci-fi title ever. Everything you can love about sci-fi is here: space races, space combat, diverse planets, alternate dimensions, weird aliens, hot aliens, aliens of questionable gender (seriously, what is that?
◊), giant robots, bio-androids, human cyborgs, cold-sleep beauties, shapeshifting beast men, laser-gun fights, sword fights, fistfights, paintball, Mad Scientists, Tao magicians, robotic panthers, kung-fu housecats, and a Hot Springs Episode that is actually funny.

You better get ready!

4:3 ratio. Thank you.
