Jotaro Kujo
Voiced by: Matthew Mercer
Stand: Star Platinum
Ability: Strength and Precision
Stats: Destructive Power - A / Speed - A / Range - C / Durability - A / Precision - A / Developmental Potential - A
Namesake: The Star (tarot card)
Joseph’s grandson, Jotaro isn’t one for displaying his emotions and is a man of few words, but deep down has a gentle heart and will protect anybody close to him, especially if he has to beat the crap out of someone. Recently, he gained a mysterious power known as a Stand; Star Platinum is one of the most powerful Stands around, possessing incredible precision, speed, and strength. With his Stand, Star Platinum, he’s now on a journey across Egypt to take down DIO and save his mother.

Joseph Joestar
Voiced by: Richard Epcar
Stand: Hermit Purple
Ability: Divination and Hamon
Stats: Destructive Power - D / Speed - C / Range - D / Durability - A / Precision - D / Developmental Potential - E
Namesake: The Hermit (tarot card)
Joseph Joestar once saved the world nearly 50 years ago, but since then retired from his Hamon training and became a real estate tycoon in America. However, after gaining his Stand, he sprung back into action once discovering that the evil DIO, who had taken his grandfather’s life, had reemerged from his hundred-year slumber. Alongside his grandson Jotaro, his friend Avdol, high schooler Kakyoin, Frenchman Polnareff, and a hotheaded dog named Iggy, Joseph is now in a race against time to defeat DIO and remove the curse afflicting his daughter Holly. Joseph’s Stand allows him to use spirit photography to help guide the Crusaders on their journey, as well as enhance his own Hamon abilities.

Muhammad Avdol
Voiced by: Chris Tergliafera
Stand: Magician’s Red
Ability: Fire Manipulation
Stats: Destructive Power - B / Speed - B / Range - C / Durability - B / Precision - C / Developmental Potential - D
Namesakes: Paula Abdul (Singer) / The Magician (Tarot card)
Joseph’s Egyptian friend, Avdol is the voice of reason and a rather serious individual. He possesses a strong sense of loyalty and duty, determined to eliminate DIO and his minions, while helping the Joestars any way possible using his worldly knowledge. Unlike Joseph and Jotaro, Avdol was born with his Stand, Magician’s Red and thus has essentially mastered its abilities, the power to command fire. After an encounter with Hol Horse and Centerfold in India, Avdol was left with two wounds that seemingly killed him. However, in reality his allies faked his death to allow him time to recuperate without being targeted by DIO, and he reunited with the group just before they entered Egypt.

Jean Pierre Polnareff
Voiced by: Doug Erholtz
Stand: Silver Chariot
Abilities: Speed and sword combat
Stats: Destructive Power - C / Speed - A / Range - C / Durability - B / Precision - B / Developmental Potential - C
Namesakes: Jean-Paul Belmondo (actor) / Michel Polnareff (musician) / The Chariot (tarot card)
Polnareff is a chivalrous Frenchman who met the Crusaders in Hong Kong. He was initially a minion of DIO but, like Kakyoin, was rescued from the brainwashing that had been placed on him. He had joined the group to avenge his sister, who was killed by the evil Stand user Centerfold. But after defeating his target, he continues onward with them across Egypt to end DIO’s evil reign and ensure no one else has to suffer. His Stand, Silver Chariot, is able to attack its enemies with high-speed swordplay.

Iggy
Voiced by: Derek Stephen Prince
Stand: The Fool
Abilities: Sand Manifestation
Stats: Destructive Power - B / Speed - C / Range - D / Durability - C / Precision - D / Developmental Potential - C
Namesakes: Iggy Pop (singer) / The Fool (tarot card)
Found by Avdol on the streets of New York City, Iggy is an antisocial Boston Terrier with a bad attitude. He has a high opinion of himself, believing himself to be smarter than humans and as such is rather rude to them, only choosing to obey if provided with his favorite treat, coffee flavored gum. His Stand, The Fool, is indeed a menacing one, able to control sand to either throw at enemies with great force or form into solid complex shapes, defaulting to a quadruped creature with wheels for back legs and a tribal mask for a face. However, as Iggy is so independent and has no real stake in defeating DIO, he may not be so willing to use this powerful Stand to assist the Crusaders.

Daniel J. D’Arby
Voiced by: Cam Clarke
Stand: Osiris
Abilities: Soul Steal
Stats: Destructive Power - E / Speed - D / Range - D / Durability - C / Precision - D / Developmental Potential - D
Namesakes: Terence Trent D’Arby (American singer) / Osiris (Egyptian god of prosperity and the afterlife)
Daniel J. D’Arby considers himself to be the world’s greatest gambler, though this is in large part due to his habit of trickery and cheating. In his mind, anyone who is stupid enough to be cheated deserves it and has no right to complain. With his ability, he can steal the souls of anyone who loses to him in a game, trapping them within poker chips, with the only way to free them is if D’Arby willingly releases the souls. If D’Arby dies, so will the souls he has captured. He was ultimately defeated by Jotaro, who bluffed so hard that D’Arby went mad, and subconsciously freed all the souls he had collected over the years.

Hol Horse
Voiced by: Imari Williams
Stand: Emperor
Abilities: Point-Blank Summon and Homing Bullets
Stats: Destructive Power - B / Speed - B / Range - B / Durability - C / Precision - E / Developmental Potential - E
Namesakes: Hall & Oates (Pop Duo) / The Emperor (tarot card)
Hol Horse, on the surface, appears to be a confident and smooth-talking womanizer. Deep down, however, that confidence is a facade, as Hol Horse is aware of how weak his own Stand is. For this reason, he is one of the few Stand users under DIO’s command who willingly teams up with other Stand users. Hol Horse encountered the Crusaders a few times while they made their way to Egypt, first in India alongside the mirror Stand user Centerfold, and again in Pakistan where he was nearly killed by Centerfold’s mother Enyaba. After Enyaba’s defeat, Hol Horse retreated, vowing to fight the Crusaders again. However, it’s been a while since he was last seen, and with the heroes closing in on DIO’s lair, now may be Hol Horse’s last chance to kill them.

Mondatta (Japanese name: Boingo)
Voiced by: Jessica Gee
Stand: Tohth
Abilities: Prediction
Stats: Destructive Power - E / Speed - E / Range - E / Durability - A / Precision - E / Developmental Potential - E
Namesakes: Oingo Boingo (band) / Zenyatta Mondatta (The Police album) / Tohth (Egyptian god of wisdom)
The younger of the “Oingo Boingo Brothers”, Mondatta is incredibly introverted, afraid to do anything, even talk, without his older brother around. Much like Khnum, Tohth has no direct combat power, but within the pages of its book-like appearance, it does hold a dangerous ability: the power to predict the future. Presented as a crudely drawn comic book, Tohth can show its user what will occur within the next few minutes, usually in a way that’s most beneficial towards the goals of Zenyatta and Mondatta. Tohth’s predictions are 100% accurate, but the catch is that the person who reads its predictions must follow them accurately, or else there will be disastrous consequences. Due to following a prediction which said the brothers would beat up a random man, the man came back with a group of thugs to get revenge, which landed both brothers in the hospital.

DIO
Voiced by: Patrick Seitz
Stand: The World
Abilities: Vampirism (DIO) / ??? (The World)
Namesakes: DIO (Band) / The World (tarot card)
In the early 1880’s, a lower-class orphan by the name of Dio Brando was taken in by the upper-class Joestar family. With resentment for those of higher social status than him, Dio spent the next 7 years planning to take out the heir to the Joestar family, Jonathan Joestar, and claim its fortune. However, caught at a critical time in his plan, Dio used an ancient artifact the Joestars owned to become a vampire and began a new plot for world domination. Jonathan, along his friends, fought back against Dio, ending in a confrontation on a ship in the middle of the Atlantic which cost Jonathan’s life and sent Dio to a supposed watery grave. However, nearly a hundred years later, he was recovered by an unsuspecting group of treasure hunters, and given life anew in the modern age! Having gained possession of a mysterious Stand ability, the being now known simply as “DIO” wraps his insidious grasp around the world through agents also possessing Stands, in the resurrection of his plot to end the Joestar bloodline and dominate humanity! While DIO has access to a Hermit Purple like Stand which allows him to monitor the progress of the Crusaders, this Stand in fact belongs to Jonathan’s body. DIO’s own Stand, which Kakyoin determined (by process of elimination of the tarot cards) is named “The World”, has an unknown power which is more mysterious and far more terrifying.

Episode 36 (62)
“Hol Horse and Mondatta, Part 1"
Chapters adapted: 210, 217-219

Previously on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure:
D'Arby prepared his and Jotaro's game of poker by splitting up Polnareff and Joseph's souls into six poker chips each to bet with, as well as giving Jotaro a set of six to represent his own soul. Jotaro showed off how precise Star Platinum's eyesight is by predicting the deal of the cards, and caught D'Arby as he was about to cheat by second dealing, which led Jotaro to pick a boy near the café to deal for them. Jotaro lost three chips in his first hand against D'Arby, and in the second hand D'Arby was dealt four kings, but Jotaro appeared to have not once looked at his cards.

D'Arby began to worry, as he knew the boy and everyone else in the café were in his employ, and the boy was sure he had dealt Jotaro a bum hand, but Jotaro raised all of his soul and Avdol's soul on his bet, while using Star Platinum to get himself a cigarette and a drink. D'Arby was surprised and caught off-guard at the speed Jotaro got these items, and believed he was bluffing; seeing his bet and raising it, he bet the rest of Jotaro's soul and all of Joseph and Polnareff's souls. Jotaro saw his bet with Kakyoin's soul and then raised with the soul of his mother Holy. D'Arby, unsure if Jotaro had managed to use Star Platinum to change out all of his cards to a better hand, dared for a showdown for all their cards, but Jotaro demanded D'Arby matched his bets, and proposed that he put the secret to DIO's Stand at stake.

For unexplained reasons, he mentally folded as he went catatonic. Avdol commented that D'Arby knows DIO's Stand, from the terrified reaction of the gambler. As his mental capacity collapsed, D'Arby still wanted to go on, but couldn't, out of the fear that Jotaro may have indeed pulled a fast one, or that DIO would go after him and kill him in retaliation. In the end, all of the souls he won in bets were released, allowing Joseph and Polnareff to recover as Avdol looked at Jotaro's cards, and realized that he had been dealt a bad hand. Jotaro admitted he never once looked at his cards to keep his cool, but lamented that they would not be able to interrogate D'Arby for information on DIO. The boy accomplice ran away from the scene, screaming in terror after witnessing his boss being reduced to a loon after the game.

Now:
With the number of Egyptian God Stand users quickly dwindling and the Crusaders closing in on his lair, DIO gives Hol Horse one final chance to accomplish his mission. To this end, he forms an unlikely alliance with Mondatta, who has just been released from the hospital.

Previously on JJBA: I wager that D'arby didn't see that coming.

Oh hey Hol Horse. You're still here?

Ah yes. It's so erotic the way he feeds on their blood and kills them.

Okay Dio, so you say you're not strong enough to beat Jojo and the others, so you command others to kill them for you, but also threaten to kill them if they don't succeed.

How do you logic?!

Your cab is now mine by way of my actions.

He just Van Goghed him.

Oh, it's...was he Oingo or Boingo?

Did they serve wafer-thin mints on that plane?

Oh boy, more chapters of Boingo's manga.

Despite everything else, Hol does have a Sanji-like chivalry towards women.

Yeah, the thing about Boingo's predictions is that they don't tell the whole truth. How dramatically convenient.

"Thank you for kicking me in the neck! You're such a gentleman! Here, have all my jewels!"

Seems a woman can't walk into the middle of a desert without getting attacked.

Oh. Scorpion in her shawl. Okay.

Not all of Family Guy has aged well (and he knows this - hell, he's friends with the PTC president now) but I genuinely think Seth MacFarlane is a really good guy.

Imagine a broadcast TV network giving someone who worked at the Golden Age of Cartoon Network the opportunity to worked on a show, and doing 8 interviews, only to completely ghosted him for weeks for absolutely no reason.

Try to wrap your head around on that one, folks.

Seriously. Explain that to me, Memorable Entertainment Television? :/
Didn't notice that the site was back...

I'll start off by saying X-Men 97 has been a blast to watch. As someone who grew up exposed to the films and cameos on other shows, it was definitely a different treat seeing how both iterations of the franchise handle the characters and their world.
Professor X's speech in today's episode was powerful ... nuff said.
I've ground my wisdom tooth down overtime so that I can clench my jaw properly again. It's equal parts good and bad news.
