Universal Basic Guys was,,eh. I liked the b-plot with the monkey, but the whole stuff with Mark's face was just grotesque, ditto the snake plot. Still, I can see some potential in it.

I don’t think I’ve seen you on the boards for last year and before. Did you watch grimsburg and krapopolis?

I post regularly, just not always on this thread. I cant get into Krapopolis (I've tried, but I cant find much I like about it) , but I actually find Grimsburg to be pretty entertaining.

To me, the new seasons have already started for Bob's Burgers and The Great North. September is traditionally when many shows begin new seasons.

I see.

Did you watch Duncanville Housebroken and Bless the Harts when they were on?
I saw episodes of all of them, but Duncanville was the only one I really liked and stuck with (it's a shame it didnt get more seasons, it definitely deserved more).

Finally got to check out the first episode. I'm giving it a 2/5 for now, but leaning towards a 1.5 tbh cause that snake subplot was probably the worst thing I've seen this year.

The best thing of the first episode (which isn't even the pilot) was the skinny brother bonding with the monkey. That was actually not so bad. The subplot with the fat short dude getting the snake was just terrible filler. It wasn't even remotely funny in the slightest. What a waste of time. They should have dropped that plot completely and have more time for the other two plots.

The fat brother I think his name is Mark comes off as very unlikeable and selfish. I don't think he's funny either. There's just nothing about him that stands out in the landscape of modern adult animation. I also dislike that not everyone is on UBI, which just makes those on UBI seem lazy and not want to actually work. It's a skewed concept at best.

Honestly, I was expecting it to be much worse to be honest. Allen Gregory is still the worst thing Fox has made cartoon wise by far, probably followed by Bordertown next. I think this is a tiny bit better than Bordertown but that isn't saying much.

I will keep watching the next few episodes to see if there's any potential, but I'm not really feeling it so far.

If the critics hate it, then it will probably be good.
Then how do you explain this:

Anyway, I don't usually do this nowadays, but today I decided to watch the new Simpsons season premiere live on FOX. I haven't watched a new episode that way in AGES.

Looks like I picked a fine episode to watch it's premiere live, I really enjoyed it. Sure, the inclusion of AI in the plot had me rolling my eyes, but it was used in a fine way. I laughed quite a bit at how meta it was about how the status quo never really changes, in fact. Plus, some of the cameos were pretty cool.

If you like weird and strange modern Simpsons episodes, this one is right up you're alley! Probably would rate it a 4.5/5.

Too bad that this season premiere was also simultaneously it's long-awaited series finale
Oh well, maybe Universal Basic Guys will fill that void for FOX :p

Also too bad that the anime community have already beaten the Simpsons to an episode that mocks finales by 11 days. :p

Meanwhile, if there were any episodes that really felt like good finales to The Simpsons, it would be The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase (my personal choice, as it would ensure that she show won't get to the point where it starts to go downhill), Behind the Laughter, and Holidays of Future Past.

:p

Could you elaborate? I have no idea what you're talking about (I don't really catch up on anime like I do with Western Animation).

The anime in question that I'm referring to here is My Deer Friend Nokotan (aka Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan). The insanity begins in penultimate episode with a post-credits scene that suggests that the finale will be one of those endings where things become dramatic and that the titular character Nokotan has disappeared (with all the promotional material suggesting that as well). It ends up being a bait and switch, with the real plot being about a group of deer mascots (all of which are real local mascot characters in Japan) trying to take back Nokotan, with the episode having numerous elements that you'd expect in an anime-original finale for a show that is based on a title that is still on-going (concerns about a school club coming to an end, people taking things seriously, various characters returning for the finale, callbacks to previous episodes).

Really losing my patience with Universal Basic Guys. It’s just not funny and this recent episode was easily the worst one. I dropped Housebroken after the first season and a bit of the second too so this would be the second show in the new iteration I don’t finish if I decide to.

I’m just waiting for The Great North to come back because that’s the only show on Fox right now that is must see TV every week. Krapopolis isn’t bad but it isn’t great even after two productions seasons they still don’t have it totally down. I don’t have high hopes for Grimsburg’s second season being better but it has to be a lot better if they want me to keep watching.

Even then I’d much rather watch Grimsburg again over Universal Basic Guys so far.

Yeah Universal Basic Guys is kind of a miss show. It started with a man getting his face ripped off. The MC is really somewhat insufferable. I can't say the show isn't tightly written, though, I liked the way they had the main plot cross with the wife's stalker plot and how they resolved that. Also the dark joke with the fire fighter later was funny. But it's not a very strong show.

On the line up side, FOX the network , really needs Family Guy more than Family Guy needs it. It really balances out the line up.

The Simpson's episode this week was fine. Guess they decided to not have Sideshow Bob be married to that wife he had in Italy or something. Also don't know why Bob was in this episode, though. Marge and Homer not arguing and just being a fun happy couple was a nice treat, if there's anything these recent seasons have doing that's nice is finding ways to just have Homer and Marge be a happy couple at times. Especially fitting when the other couples there were miserable. I thought Bart and Lisa were going to have a plot, but they ended up just kind of ... dropping off. Maybe the episode would be more enjoyable to "White Lotus" fans and had hidden jokes that I don't know. Not sure, only can say it's fine.

The Bob's Burgers episode I liked for Bob's plot and Bob's plot alone. I kind of liked seeing his nostalgic side his memories were sweet.

We are pretty much the opposite on Grimbsburg and The Great North. I've tried watching Great North for its seasons and just can't get into it. It was just the 7:30pm filler show for me between Simpsons and Bob's Burgers. I thought Grimsburg was pretty entertaining. Krapopolis is alright to me, the episodes are either fun or were just something for me to pass time , again the 7:30pm thing. Moving it later, kind of hurts the show for me, because I'm not feeling in the mood for it it's easier to leave , there's nothing to wait for. (Sorry, local news)

Last season of Family guy was garbage though.

I’d be okay with them ending the damn thing.

Duncanville would be a decent successor especially since one of Family Guy’s veterans John Viener did voices and wrote for it too.

My Spanish final grade is being calculated RN. Keep in mind, most of my tests I didn't do good on. One test I got a 49, and on the latest test the score hasn't come in yet so it's in the placeholder grade of a 0, and right now that zero currently counts towards the calculations.

All that said, my current grade- zero test included- is a 90.41%. An A.

Well, I still would like to see Netflix do more with the "three episodes per week" format after Arcane. The final arc of The Dragon Prince could ultilise this, should it be greenlit after the upcoming release of Book Seven: Dark in eight days' time.
