Low Spark of Lyman

  • As February often seems to me like "the armpit of the year" (to quote Garfield)- sometimes more than usual- I'm aiming to turn it around this year. No promises, though.
I've noticed the MeTV airings of The Flintstones now constantly feature "Meet the Flintstones" for the opening and ending sequences, even for earlier episodes. Yet that wasn't the case for the first run on there. Maybe some people really aren't digging "Rise and Shine"?

Not to mention it sounds too similar to that one Looney Tunes song...

Agreed. Rise And Shine is somewhat bland.

Maybe. Though that would be interesting when both are under WarnerMedia.
So do we know yet what happened to those DVDs of The Tick cartoon? It's been over a decade now.

I'm referring to the lack of Season 3 and certain earlier episodes. And I guess also why they haven't tried again yet.
Belated R.I.P. to Art Lozzi, the last living original H-B artist:

One of the many CDs I got at a local record store yesterday was Space Ghost's Musical Bar-B-Que. I actually saw it the last time I went there, still had it this time.

It was during a half-off sale, so I bought more than usual there.

Nice purchase for you! --- I try to frequent all sorts of resale shops as possible. I've found and purchased some really nice personal treasures. One store of which, the lady who runs it does so many discount days per week, and has really good stuff in there.
I recently found evidence that Soundac was around as late as 1981. In the Broadcasting & Cable Yearbooks, the studio was listed up to that year. So I guess it didn't shut down the year Colonel Bleep went off the air (which was apparently in '71).
Somehow, I've only fairly recently noticed that the closing version of "Meet the Flintstones" has this line alluding to a certain scene: "Someday, maybe Fred will win the fight. Then that cat will stay out for the night."
To further show how CN ratings aren't as relevant now as they were before-

During the early '10s, it was a special occasion for a premiere to break 3 million. Now, it's special to break 1 million. To put it another way, it's hard now to achieve even what The Problem Solverz got on average, never mind Adventure Time or Regular Show back then.

    That doesn't sound too surprising.

Good point. Back in 2012 or 2013 almost all of CN’s shows broke 1 million easily. Some shows lost ratings over the years but it wasn’t until mid-2016 when the big ratings decline happened. Even some of CN’s biggest shows like TTG and Gumball were losing chunks of viewers. The ratings decline is still happening today with most shows struggling to hit 500K viewers.

There is only one program that has broke 1 million viewers this year so far. Let’s face it, CN cares more about app ratings than they do TV ratings. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about CN’s declining ratings.
About the soundtrack to the first Colonel Bleep cartoon supposedly remaining under copyright...I think this is the source for that, so to speak:

Um, the exact link may not work, so here's what I'm trying to point out:

If one does a search for Colonel Bleep on there, one of the results is for a "pilot episode" from 1995. That result is actually for a sound cassette recording of some sort, co-credited to James Ingram, surely the famous singer (1952-2019).

Also note that the site's search function does not cover anything registered before 1978.
I can access this site (among others) on my MacBook again. I'll probably just alternate between it and my iPod whenever I want/need.
Not only is today the 27th anniversary of CN, it is also #48 for Walt Disney World, which my family visited nearly 20 years ago.
Where does your avatar come from?

The obscure 1950s cartoon Colonel Bleep. Most notable for being the first TV animated series made in color. Also a good example of the Googie style that was prevalent then.
Tonight’s my first time on here via my iPod Touch I got a few days ago. My laptop, meanwhile, has been having Internet problems for a while now.
So just two days ago, I found a bunch of long-forgotten episode titles for (missing) Colonel Bleep episodes, thanks to Brigham Young University (via Internet Archive).
