C&C - JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - "A Man Possessed by an Evil Spirit" [7/29] (START OF PART 3)

I have to say, while Stardust Crusaders introduces a lot of new elements that will become iconic staples of the franchise from this point on, I personally still prefer Battle Tendency over it since I found that one to be a bit more fun and it didn't drag out at any point for me. Also, while it's...

    C&C - Hunter x Hunter - "Allies × And × Lies" [6/17]

That kind of goes with almost any show or manga that's popular. There will always be avid fans who hail it as the best of all time or one of the greats. I personally decided a long time ago that the idea of something being objectively better than all or most things is pretty ridiculous, and try...

    C&C - Hunter x Hunter - "Allies × And × Lies" [6/17]

I liked the Hunter Exams arc, despite some of its shortcomings. Interestingly, though, Greed Island is personally my least favorite arc. While I can still enjoy it to an extent, and am fine with the lighter tone shift, I feel that it succumbs way too much to many of the shonen trappings that...

    C&C - Hunter x Hunter - "Allies × And × Lies" [6/17]

I love this arc, but keep in mind that I also personally disagree with the notion that we need a big epic finish for an arc to have a proper climax. In other shonen series like DBZ and One Piece we get lots of endings with a hero overcoming a villain in a glorious fashion, which works for the...

    C&C - JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - "The Ascendant One" [4/15] (END OF PART 2)

It is worth noting that the weakest elements of this series, like the sloppy story-telling, and strange overlap of the comedy and mellodrama elements (making it a bit strange to decipher what parts were meant to be genuine and which parts were purposefully tongue-in-cheek) are mostly dropped...

    C&C - JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - "The Ascendant One" [4/15] (END OF PART 2)

Well, I had meant to comment on the last few episodes, but life has kept me rather busy as of late and to be honest I haven't really been keeping up with Toonami over the past few weeks. While I'm not surprised that the reception of JoJo's on TZ is still as mixed to negative as it has been...

Toonzone's "Battle of the Brackets" FINAL MATCH Voting thread! (Dragon Ball Z vs. Superman!)

After some deliberation, I think I'll go with DBZ, on the basis that neither of these shows would really be my choice for #1, but I definitely have a stronger attachment to DBZ than to STAS, which as I said the latter of which is a better and more consistent quality series, but DBZ ultimately...

Toonzone's "Battle of the Brackets" FINAL MATCH Voting thread! (Dragon Ball Z vs. Superman!)

There is a part of me that wants to vote for DBZ. Despite my numerous problems with the anime as an adaptation, I do have a particularly strong nostalgic attachment to the series. I will always prefer reading the manga, but for what it is, the high points of the anime still have a big emotional...

Toonzone's "Battle of the Brackets" - Semi-Finals Voting thread (Dragon conference)

I personally think of the manga as one big series, myself, which technically it is. I love a lot of stuff in the later story arcs (you, even the much maligned Majin Buu arc has its moments, IMO), and feel that some people give it way too much flak when referring to it as a brainless action...

Toonzone's "Battle of the Brackets" - Semi-Finals Voting thread (Dragon conference)

Dragon Ball. My biggest problem with Z as an anime is the absolutely horrendous pacing, and loads of crap filler material. Dragon Ball had this problem to an extent, but DBZ took it way too far, IMO. Also, I do love the combination of humor and adventure from Dragon Ball. Either way, though...

Toonzone's "Battle of the Brackets" - Semi-Finals Voting thread (Dragon conference)

I'll give the edge to Dragon Ball here. I like Batman Beyond, but the quality was not consistent given how odd the tone of its second season felt, IMO. While I still have problems with the anime adaptation of Dragon Ball, I do still really enjoy it, and the Red Ribbon Army saga alone is one of...

Toonzone's "Battle of the Brackets" - Sweet Sixteen Voting thread (Dragon conference)

Dragon Ball. Teen Titans was one of those shows that I just couldn't quite get into for some reason.

Toonzone's "Battle of the Brackets" - Sweet Sixteen Voting thread (Dragon conference)

Batman Beyond. It's my third favorite DCAU show and has a pretty solid run, overall. Zatch Bell was entertaining for what it was, but not something that I would never really go back to like how I do for Batman Beyond.

Toonzone's "Battle of the Brackets" - Sweet Sixteen Voting thread (Dragon conference)

Dragon Ball Z. I have a ton of problems with the anime. Not to say that the manga wasn't already flawed, but I at least enjoyed it more consistently thanks to Toriyama's smooth artwork and generally brisket p, whereas the anime hot bogged down with way too much filler and some truly horrendous...

    C&C - Hunter x Hunter - "Chasing × And × Waiting" [4/8]

Toguro came to acknowledge that he made the wrong choice in the long run, but I never got the sense that he saw himself as evil.
