  • “Don’t like it, don’t watch it” is sage advice until it’s used by people who can’t comprehend art being criticized.

Because sometimes it’s less about genuinely caring if a guy’s watching something you decide he hates, and more so just “I’m the coolest person in the room if I can muzzle any valid critiques while making my own contributions minimal and questionable.”

I hate getting into pedantic arguments about my reviews. That's not why I make them or post them. It's SO freaking frustrating. I know forums are places for debates but I'm allowed to think something sucks if I logically discuss the reasons it does. I'm not looking to spend my entire day in flame war. I have things to do.

My post isn’t even exclusive to this site or what I myself have endured over the years. I’ve always truthfully believed blind white-knighting to be just as much of a serious threat to processing media as any toxic dingus making his hate known.

@Fone Bone and @[classic swim] : Exactly! It's one thing to have a civil conversation, but using the "don't like, don't watch" excuse towards people who have genuine criticism as a defensive easy win/shut up button just drives me up a tree.
“I get why people might not like it, find it unfunny, too mean. But I reject the accusations that I hated comics/fandom. You can love something and still be critical of it. Eltingville is a pipe bomb, but there's a love letter tucked into it. A non-fan couldn't write Eltingville.” Take care, Evan Dorkin.

Gilda And Meek is partly done because I hate comic books and fandom equally. But if I truly hated them and wasn't a fan deep down, I wouldn't know what to either subvert or make fun of. Same principle.

Against all odds, and when everyone thought it was done for; they actually did it.

They actually got Toonzone back up and running.
Boy, my jaw dropped to the floor seeing this.

Even if it ends up being a complete dumpster fire again, I would be SO back. If there’s serious potential properly restoring everything, go for it.
I haven’t received any warning or talk on it yet, but I’ll try to do better with not even alluding to swears on my posts.

If I put bad filters on a couple words it was to respect the fact you guys wanna keep it friendly here. But I keep checking the rules.

    Sorry, guys.
Five more days until Aqua Teen.

As dumb as it sounds, I’m happy it’s been part of my life for a good whole quarter. I’ve made a lot of good friends from that shared interest. Growing old with it is depressing but it warms my heart also. ATHF forever!

It was an avatar of mine from a long long long time ago that I was able to find. I’ll probably change it to something from the movie on the day it’s out and then revert back.
