To be specific, as of this writing, the show is in pre-pre production. The producers are planning the story; scripts are being written; but no artwork has been done, no storyboards completed, and definitely no animation.
Phil's been drawing.

Just realized that, four years ago today, the final episode of Young Justice Invasion aired on Cartoon Network.

Hopefully by this time next year, we'll have some concrete stuff regarding the show's 3rd Season.

Hmmm... Does that mean they have officially entered pre-production? Greg must have broken down the production phases on his site at some point.
Yeah, it's out there. I should dig out my old notes. I recall for season 1 - it was in development in March 2009 then greenlit in October 2009. Casting we know of took place between November 2009 to January 2010. April 2010 it was officially announced. By September 3, 2010, 17 scripts were done. Post-Production started September 2010. Pilot aired November 26, 2010. All work on season 1 ended November 22, 2011.

Has anyone found a source on the claim that Weisman and co said that season 3 would be focused on Magic? It isn't in the OP master list of information and I can't find a source on it but I've seen quite a few say it.
So far, the earliest mention by a fan of it online was August 2014. I think at this time, Greg and Brandon were still dropping tidbits in interviews before they agreed to stop. So maybe it was mentioned in brief during a podcast or con interview.

I'd also like to point out that the large "development" window for the first season is going to be cut significantly for season 3 considering that they already had the basic outline for it done etc before ever being renewed.

I also think we're getting a good chunk of episodes. Phil said he has script(s) and Greg said more recently that he's been reading Rebirth for "potential research." If we have scripts done and he's still "researching," we probably have a sizable season.

Yeah. But comparing 1 and 2 -- season 1 had something like 2 years and 8 months of production. Season 2 had about 1 year and 7 months. Looking over the production updates I transcribed, I totally forgot the pilot was finished about 2 weeks before it aired!

It seems like based on production, they might have the first 3 or so episodes recorded by June optimistically.

It has been my experience these things usually take longer than you think they should, but that's just speculation.

It wouldn't surprise me if Starfire did join the team in the new season for the following reason... The producers know how much the viewers love to ship. Starfire's inclusion would set up a love-triangle between herself, Nightwing, and Bat-Girl. Up until now, Barbara has tolerated DIck's philandering because she always figured when it was time for him to settle down it would be with her. But, introducing Starfire to the cast might change all that. In the comics, Dick's two major love interests have been Babs and Kory.

And in the comics, Dick has, at different times, nearly married both Barbara and Kory.

I've been re-reading some older posts speculating that Wally is in the speed-force. I know Greg has said he doesn't like the idea of the speed-force, but has he ever actually said that it doesn't exist on Earth-16?

Other posts indicate Greg said we would meet more of M'Gann's family. I can't say I'm all that interested in another M'Gann story-line. Her arc in Invasion was a good one, but I think she got enough of the spotlight. Wally and Connor are in serious need of attention.

(Yeah, I'm making the assumption Wally is alive because I think he is. Think about it. Contentment is the enemy of drama and there's not much drama in Artemis and Wally living happily ever after. The only thing to do is to tear them apart so they can get back together. Yes, it's speculation, but not unreasonable speculation.)

Obviously, I'm a fan of Artemis. I hope she gets the spotlight for that reason alone. Dealing with a loss of that magnitude can't be easy. I hope, though, that Greg won't have her lose her mind just because her boyfriend died. I doubt he would do that, but I just have to say it's a tired trope.

As for Kaldur, there is only one story-line they could pursue with him that would interest me: Kaldur coming out of the closet. Again, this is just speculation, but I have thought for awhile if there was one member of the main cast that was secretly gay it was him.

I am curious to see more of Martian culture and the rest of J'onn's family (especially since they're usually dead), and it might be an opportunity to introduce Ma'alefa'ak or some of Martian Manhunters other obscure foes .

Rather then losing her mind, I'm worried as to whether Artemis as Tigress will still be on the right side of the law by the time we see her next :ack:.

Greg was the first one to tease that Kaldur may not have been exactly "straight," and in-light of him reading Rebirth for research, that might be developed further in season 3.

I don't know if someone else brought this up (I didn't have time to read through everything), but even though I still think Netflix is the most likely home for season 3, I'm starting to think Toonami could have a good shot too.

I know a few years back it was said that they didnt have the budget, but since they're now airing the new season of Samurai Jack, season 3 of YJ would make sense as another "revival" of an older Cartoon Network show.

Well, in the comics Tigress is a bad guy and she is romantically linked to Icicle Jr.. Maybe the light will brainwash her in retaliation for her actions in Invasion?

Found my old notes on production of season 1 and 2. Easier to look it than skim the list of all news I guess. I think it's legible (?) and should be able to zoom on them. If anyone's interested, click on the thumbnails.
