It would appear that the release dates of many high-end AAA titles in the video game world are getting delayed either in big ways or in small ones. And now, it would seem we can once again add Final Fantasy VII Remake to that list. Though to be clear, this isn’t as big a delay as previous ones for this game. The title was supposed to come out on March 20th, but now, it’ll be coming out on April 10th. So only a delay of a few weeks. But still, that is a big delay in the minds of some fans.
This announcement was made on the Final Fantasy VII Remake official Twitter handle, and the team noted that the reason for the delay is very basic: polishing. They want to make sure that the game is absolutely the best it can be, and to do that, they need to make the game as polished as possible. Thus, they need a few extra weeks to get the work done.
The irony of this delay is not lost on many, not least of which is that this game has been “known about” for many years after a now-infamous teaser trailer in which Cloud Strife was shown in epic detail. But since then, Square Enix was quiet on the game, including noting that the game had basically been restarted with a new team after certain issues came to be.
Finally though, in 2018 and 2019 some more clear glimpses of the game came forth, with many story and gameplay trailers being released since then to tide over gamers. It’s not surprising that the team wants to make this game as perfect as possible as the original Final Fantasy VII is a classic game and one of the most important ones in video game history. It helped set the stage for many things to come, and this overhaul needs to be everything it can be and more.
The game will now release on April 10th, 2020.
