Elena of Avalor Premieres On DVD This December

Elena of Avalor

We had to wait over a year for We Bare Bears to grace home video, but Elena of Avalor’s first DVD disc is going to happen nearly instantaneously. The first four episodes that have aired will be offered in a DVD package for the young female holiday market.

Elena of Avalor is a spinoff of Disney Junior’s Sophia the First, aimed at a slightly older audience on the Disney Channel. She’s one of those princesses who should be called a queen in all rights yet isn’t one. There’s a Latin twinge to everything, which the show creators took great pains to make authentic.

If the box art is to be believed, this disc will come with a working light-up model of Elena’s Scepter of Death (well, I’m assuming she can kill people with it). A picture of said scepter, however, isn’t included in Disney’s press release. Surely it wouldn’t fit into this box if it were full-size, so perhaps the DVD box is part of a bigger box? There’s the possibility that it’s really tiny, but then some kid might eat it, like an American and a Kinder Egg, so no.

Elena of Avalor: Ready to Rule will be ready to rock December 6. The full press release from Disney follows.
