Veteran voice actress Mayumi Tanaka revealed via her blog that she and her fellow co-stars were recording new Dragon Ball Kai episodes for international release, with no plans for release or broadcast of these episodes in Japan at this time. Dragon Ball Kai ended broadcast March 27, 2011 amid the 2011 Touhoku earthquake and tsunami, with ninety-seven episodes aired of a planned ninety-eight . The planned ninety-eighth episode was released as an ‘extra episode’ on subsequent home video releases with episode #97 relegated to ‘final episode’ status. Tanaka commented that “Right now, we are recording the part at the Tenka’ichi Budōkai, where Goten and Trunks infiltrate the adults’ division by one standing on the other’s shoulders. The image is definitely clearer than before,” confirming that the original Dragon Ball Z‘s Majin Boo story arc is indeed being adapted.

An official announcement and plans for release are still pending.
