At this year’s annual meeting of the Walt Disney Company, Chairman and CEO Robert A. Iger announced that sequels were in the works for both 2004’s The Incredibles and the Cars franchise (which produced the original movie in 2006, a sequel in 2011, and the Planes spin-off movie last year, with a second Planes movie coming this year). Unlike the Planes spin-off movies, Cars 3 seems to be in production at Pixar rather than the DisneyToon Studios. Fans have been clamoring for a sequel to The Incredibles almost since its release, but Iger did not seem to indicate how involved the film’s writer and director Brad Bird would be for the sequel.
