Disney Announces Encanto Sing-Along Film Concert Tour

There are a lot of people out there who assume Encanto premiered on Disney+, and you can’t blame them. Its theatrical run was rather short (about a month), and mostly ignored by families who weren’t ready to return to theaters just yet. The bitter irony is that if Disney put the film back into theaters now, it would probably make a lot more cash than in its original run — but Disney, which makes $237,939,401 every second, probably isn’t losing sleep over it.

But at the same time, Encanto is the studio’s most popular animated film since Frozen and the revenue potential is hard to ignore. Disney kicked The Lion King back into theaters six months after its debut when the public waved their dollars and demanded an encore. With a full theatrical 2022 slate, that won’t be happening for Encanto, but a newly announced reissue of sorts is as close as it can get.

Presenting the Encanto Sing-Along Film Concert Tour. Maribel’s adventure will be rescreened in 35 cities throughout the summer in a special live event. When the songs start up, a live band will begin playing them and the audience will be encouraged to sing along. While the film will be projected onto a large screen again, it’ll be in a rather loud environment full of screaming children…this kind of event is intended for them, not you.

Note that a sing-along variant of the film already exists on Disney+, so if that’s the main motive your kids have for going, you can save them the trip. Tickets will be up for preorder at livenation.com starting April 27. Here’s the full list of cities that are getting a showing…
