“Due to creative differences, FX, Donald Glover, Stephen Glover and Marvel Television have agreed to part ways on Marvel’s Deadpool animated series,” the network said in a statement Saturday. “FX will no longer be involved with the project. FX and Marvel have an ongoing relationship through our partnership on Legion, which will continue.”
According to Deadline, Marvel did not like the the show based on scripts Stephen Glover had written for it. Variety speculates that the show may just be a casualty of Stephen Glover’s already busy and packed schedule which includes FX’s Atlanta, co-starring in Solo: A Star Wars Story, voicing Simba in the upcoming live-action Lion King, and a successful musical career. There are currently no plans on continuing the Deadpool animated series project.
UPDATE MAR. 29, 2018 – Donald Glover, via a now deleted tweet on Twitter on RenewCancelTV.com which included a script he had written for the show, says his schedule wasn’t too busy for Deadpool and that he blames Marvel for the cancellation. Stephen Glover, via The Wrap, also postulated that the script was rejected due to racism and racist comments in the script itself. The thread view count is 212
