DC Entertainment has announced that the DC Super Hero Girls are kicking off May with a trifecta of events:

  • The latest animated short is now available (embedded above). In “Hero of the Month: Supergirl,” the Maid of Might earns a prestigious honor.
  • This Saturday, May 7, 2016, is Free Comic Book Day, and the DC Super Hero Girls will get their own FCBD comic book DC Super Hero Girls #1 FCBD Special Edition. Written by Shea Fontana with art by Yancey Labat, the issue features two stories from the upcoming original graphic novel DC Super Hero Girls: Finals Crisis. For more info, check out the DC press blog.
  • The DC Super Hero Girls will appear on Food Network’s Cupcake Wars on Monday, May 9, 2016, at 9:00 PM/8:00 PM Central Time. The episode will pit kids vs. adults in a DC Super Hero Girls-themed episode with guest judges to include Ashley Eckstein (the voice actor of the Cheetah in the DC Super Hero Girls shorts and of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels) and Shea Fontana (writer of the DC Super Hero Girls series and the aforementioned DC Super Hero Girls: Finals Crisis graphic novel). The DC press blog has more details about this special episode of Cupcake Wars, too.

Instilled with their traditional American values, he spends his young adulthood roaming the globe, learning all the secrets of Comic-Fu. Donning battle armor fashioned from spilled chemicals splashed by lightning, he becomes the Sensational Shield of Sequential Art ACE THE BATHOUND! Look, it sounds a lot better than the truth. Throughout high school, college, grad school, and gainful employment, two things have remained constant: 1) I am a colossal nerd, and 2) I have spent far too much time reading comics, and then reading and writing about them. Currently working as a financial programmer in New York City, while continuing to discover all the wonderful little surprises (and expenses) of owning your a home in the suburbs. Shares the above with a beautiful, wonderful, and incredibly understanding wife named Frances (who, thankfully, participates in most of my silly hobbies) and a large furry dog named Brownie (who, sadly, does not).
