Without a doubt, one of the biggest games yet to release this year is CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077. This game is the first major game that the developer made The Witcher 3, which is hailed as one of the best games of the last decade, and for good reason. Not only did it expand the lore of the series, but it gave players a LOT of content to enjoy between the main story and the sidequests. As such, many are expecting that from Cyberpunk. And they’ll get that wish…in part.

As ComicBook.com notes, the team behind Cyberpunk 2077 do want an expansive experience and you’ll get just that. BUT, in terms of the main storyline, it’ll be a shorter one than you would expect based on Witcher 3. Senior quest designer on the game Patrick K. Mills noted that in regards to Witcher 3, the main story (which was about 50-60 hours long) was apparently too long for some gamers. So while they did go and do a bunch of sidequests…they didn’t finish the main story. Which is a bit odd when you think about it.

Therefore, when it came to designing the length of Cyberpunk, they didn’t want to make that same mistake. So, while there isn’t a definitive number, the main story for the title won’t be as long as Witcher 3.

That being said, Mills also noted that even though the MAIN story won’t be as long, there’s still going to be “lots to do” in Night City. Not the least of which is you being able to take the story from various paths, and everything you do will affect how the story ends. Thus making it a true experience from start to finish, and of course, there will be tons of sidequests for you to complete.

Cyberpunk 2077 will arrive on consoles and PC on November 19th.
