Cyberpunk 2077 is easily one of the most anticipated games of the year, and for good reason. CD Projekt Red has an amazing track record making detailed RPGS, mainly via The Witcher franchise. But now, they’re aiming to take what they did with that franchise and make it even bigger with this futuristic setting. The team has been working hard on the title, and details have been sparse, but a new interview from the team has let loose some interesting details about the behind the scenes creation of the title.
In terms of level design, we know that Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be huge, but the team stated that the “leap” between it and their previous title, Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, would be on the same scale and detail as the leap between Witcher 2 and Witcher 3. Which means fans have a lot to look forward to and depth to find.
In regards to Witcher 3, the team admits that they cluttered the map with too many icons, so you won’t have to worry about that in Cyberpunk.
As for the missions, you’ll find that there are about 3x as many ways to complete them than there were options in Witcher 3. The team apparently even tried to think about what the “dumbest player” would do and accounted for that.
The most recent trailer showed the melee righting system, but CD Projekt Red noted that major improvements were being made to that part of the combat. In terms of the quests, the team was told there were “no rules” and that once the quests were completed to play them over and over again until they were sure it was perfect for the game’s launch.
Oh, and if you’re curious, over 700 people are working on the game, which explains the extreme level of detail and effort being put into it.
