The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild is widely considered one of the greatest games ever made, and so many thought of it like that, that they gave it numerous Game of the Year awards and other honors. It was a triumph of evolution for the franchise, and many fans would wonder what would come next. It was revealed via E3 2019 that Breath of the Wild 2 has been in development for some time. And they seem to be teasing the return of Ganondorf. This got many fans excited given that the foe of the main game was “Calamity Ganon” and not the true Ganondorf. So thus, fans were eager to hear more, but haven’t gotten anything since.
However, there may be a break in this situation, according to a podcast found by GameReactor, two of the Spanish voice actors for the game, Marc Navarro and Nerea Alfonso, are saying that their work is “done” for Breath of the Wild 2. They were careful not to violate an NDA as you’ll hear if you listen to the podcast, but they made it sound as though their work in the game (one of whom voices Zelda) is done. Which would be good news for the game and for those wanting it to come out soon.
Many think it’ll arrive in 2021 because of this, but is that fair to think? While it’s true that usually voice work is reserved for the back half of game development, we must remember that Breath of the Wild was a game of massive scope beyond voice acting. It took many, MANY years to refine and fill up the world with content, and it was revealed it took over 300 people to make the game.
Breath of the Wild 2 no doubt is aiming to top the original, and thus just as much work is likely to be put into it. That’s not to say the game COULDN’T come out in 2021, but it’s more likely given recent events that 2022 is more feasible.
