Marvel Television and Disney XD have announced the full voice cast for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the animated series based on the comic book characters and the hit movie that is set to premiere in 2015 on Disney XD. Adding on to announcements made yesterday, the full cast of characters will be (with comments from the Disney press materials):
- Will Friedle as Peter Jason Quill/Star-Lord, “the brash adventurer who, to save the universe from its greatest threats, joins forces with a quartet of disparate misfits.”
- Trevor Devall as Rocket Raccoon
- Kevin Michael Richardson as Groot
- Vanessa Marshall as Gamora
- David Sobolov as Drax the Destroyer
- James Arnold Taylor as Yondu and Cosmo (the talking Russian space dog who serves as the Guardian’s mission controller)
“The cast for the new GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY animated series has all of us at Marvel animation very excited. These are some of the best, boldest and funniest voices in the business,” said Marvel’s VP, Current Animation, Stephen Wacker. “All of us here at Marvel Animation Studios are working around the clock to bring you an over-the-top, action-packed show worthy of the biggest film of 2014. We can’t wait for you to see it!”
USA Today has also posted some more information about the animated Guardians of the Galaxy with quotes from Marvel Television executives on its genesis and links to the rest of the animated Marvel universe, along with an exclusive clip from this Sunday’s new episode of Marvel’s Avengers Assemble premiering at 8:30 AM/7:30 AM Central on Disney XD.
