The Castlevania anime saga will continue this January, Netflix has announced. The teaser for the second season of Castlevania Nocturne was made public by the streamer today.
Each installment in the Castlevania series takes place in a different era, but most of them follow a member of the Belmont family, the bloodline cursed to wage war with Dracula and his forces forever. Dracula’s castle reappears once every hundred years, necessitating a Belmont to grab their whip and beat him back down. This time the stylish vamp has returned in 18th century France, which as any high school history class will teach you was a time of great upheaval and conflict.
With a revolution raging in the streets, the aristocracy is looking for anything that can help them cling to power, and what Dracula’s offering might just be it. Richter Belmont, after witnessing his mother falling to a vampire, joins the resistance along with sorceress Maria Renard. The pair are on a mission to find and stake Dracula once again.
Season One ended with the surprise entrance of a cast member from the previous Castlevania series — though it’s not much of a surprise for those who have played the games. Alucard, son of Dracula, is immortal himself and forever locked in battle against his demonic father. Perhaps he can help Richter and Maria even the odds a bit.
The second season will star the returning voices of Edward Bluemel as Richter Belmont, James Callis as Alucard, Richard Dormer as Emmanuel, Thuso Mbedo as Annette, Pixie Davies as Maria Renard, Nastassja Kinski as Tera Renard, Sydney James Harcourt as Edouard, Aaron Neil as Mizrak, Zahn McLarnon as Orlox, Iain Glen as Juste Belmont, and Franka Potente as Erzsebet Báthory/Sekhmet.
Look for Season 2 of Castlevania Nocturne this January on Netflix, and keep watching for more information about it soon.
