Fans of Super Smash Bros Ultimate have been eagerly waiting for the arrival of the announcement for the final DLC character in the Fighter Pack. So far, they’ve had Joker from Persona 5, The Hero from Dragon Quest, Banjo-Kazooie, Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury, and now…Byleth from Fire Emblem Three Houses.

This announcement was made via a special Smash Bros Direct hosted once again by Masahiro Sakurai. Who not only showed off the new character, but broke down all of the moves that Byleth would have. Now, most people would see the character and think, “It’s another sword character!” And it is, and it isn’t. Sakurai and the Smash Bros team worked with the “Professor” of Fire Emblem Three Houses to give them multiple weapons. Mainly, the Holy Relics that are shown in the game via the other main characters of the title Dmitri, Edelgard, and Claude.

So technically, Byleth has four weapons. A sword, lance, axe, and a bow, each of which have their own unique attacks and uses. As is customary, with a new character comes a new stage, and not surprisingly, it’s Garreg Mach Monastery. And not unlike a previous Smash Bros Fire Emblem stage in Castle Siege, the area around Garreg Mach will change over time to show you more of the area, and feature many Three Houses cameos from the various main and supporting characters.

Also announced though was a second Fighter Pack. Which we technically new about, but via Sakurai, the original extra DLC characters were only supposed to be 2-3 at most. But now, we’re getting 6 extra characters! All of which have already been decided, and they’ll be distributed between now and December 2021 at the latest. You can pre-purchase the Fighter Pack 2 today.

As for Byleth, they’ll arrive in Super Smash Bros Ultimate on January 28th.
