No single company in the world is more committed to preventing leaks than Nintendo — or at least it seems like it. Whenever it happens it feels like a big special event since security is so tight around everything they do. While they are usually successful in keeping information regarding their first-party games locked up, they haven’t had as much luck containing information that involves working with other companies. When you’re making a movie, like say The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, it’s that much harder.
It wasn’t a cocky teenage hacker that brought out the information that leaked today. It wasn’t from a classified server farm buried deep underground. It was Pillsbury. It was a box of cookies promotionally tied to the film that just spoiled the look of a major character, and may have confirmed another nobody guessed was in it. Guess we’ll find out if Nintendo is about to start chasing Poppin’ Fresh with a rolling pin.

The box was first seen on retail commerce websites. All the designs Illumination created for The Super Mario Bros Movie were based on the originals but flourished with a slightly distorted spin, and it appears that’s what’s been done to Yoshi as well. While Nintendo’s official version has eyelids that make him look perpetually sleepy, the Despicable Me Yoshi looks fully caffeinated and wide awake.
But it’s when you flip the box over that things get even wilder…

We get to see the movie’s version of the Comet Observatory, home of Rosalina, as well as as a few small planets that may or may not appear in the film. It’s not a surprise Rosalina is in this movie (why would she not be) but the real shocker is what’s located near the words “LET’S-A-GO”….it’s the graffiti tag of Bowser Jr, first seen in Super Mario Sunshine. Bowser Jr. is in the movie! What’s HE look like? We’ll have to wait for Pillsbury to leak that part.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is being made by the same creative team as the first. Michael Jelenik and Aaron Horvath are directing again, and most of the voice cast is returning, including Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, and like it or hate it, Chris Pratt as Mario. No one knows who is playing Yoshi, Rosalina…or Bowser Jr. The film is set for release April 3, 2026.
