It’s been a much longer wait than usual, but the English dub for Bleach will finally release this Saturday on Hulu at 9:30 Eastern time. For the previous cour, the dub was only behind four episodes, but so far seven subtitled episodes have come out without a dub. At least, that is true in the US. In jolly old England and a few other countries, the dub has already released on international versions of Disney Plus. This is not the first time that the US has gotten a dub later than the rest of the Anglosphere as Suicide Squad Isekai released a week earlier in international markets before coming to Hulu a week later.
The good news is for US fans, despite having to wait an extra week, is that the dub will be a triple episode premiere, so three times the Bleach action this Saturday. Next February, Hulu will debut the Spanish dub in the US, which is an even longer wait for the 52 million Spanish speakers who live there.
To many fans, the iconic voice cast of Johnny Yong Bosch as Ichigo, Michelle Ruff as Rukia, Stephanie Sheh as Orihime, and Derek Stephen Prince as Uryu has been absolutely beloved since they debuted their roles 18 years ago on Adult Swim. Yes, there have been some recastings in the 18 year interim, like with Chad going through three different voice actors, and the whole controversy over giving Anairis Quiñones the role of Yuroichi, only to yank the role away from her and replace her with original voice actress Wendee Lee. The dub has gone through it’s ups and downs, but many fans are very excited to see the English cast return.
So are you all excited to hear Bosch yell out “Bankai” or “Getsuga Tensho”? Which dub voices, old or new, are you most excited to hear again?
