Batman is one of the most well known fictional characters of all time, as well as one of the most popular superheroes out there. His 80+ years career throughout the comics, television and movies (in both animation and live-action), video games and whatever else, has entertained and inspired countless of people of all ages. The character doesn’t really need an introduction, and trying to cover al of his exploits would take far too much time. The bottom line is, Batman is one of the most iconic fictional characters of all time, and he’s here to stay.
To make things even more official, Batman will soon get his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ceremony will take place on Thursday September 26th, 2024 at 11 a.m. PT. Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Steve Nissen will act as emcee, and DC’s President, Publisher, and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee will be one of the speakers. Comments from Ana Martinez (Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame), follow. “The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to honor our first superhero on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! The one, the only, Batman! Fans from around the world will be thrilled to know that Batman will have his star dedicated next to the stars of television’s Batman, Adam West, and the co-creator of Batman, Bob Kane”.
In addition to the ceremony, Batman will also be included in the Guinness World Records for this new, unique title of being the first superhero honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Other notable Guinness World Records titles that have been awarded include Detective Comics as the longest-running comic book (continuously published since 1938), and in 2012 Batman was recognized as the most adapted comic book character (live-action movies), from Batman’s full-length movie in 1966 up to The Dark Knight Rises. Guinness World Records also recognizes Batman for having the most Oscar winners to play one superhero (George Clooney, Christian Bale, and Ben Affleck), for having the most video game adaptations of a superhero movie, and more.
Batman’s star will be the 2,790th one on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and be included in the category of Motion Pictures. Though their impact cannot be ignored, the animated side of Batman’s career is arguably even more iconic (and relevant for this site), but this is still quite an honor for Batman that fans can be proud of.
