Yesterday, Nintendo held a Treehouse Live show that featured a long demo of Paper Mario The Origami King. However, they also teased that they would be having a major announcement from the team at Wayforward. If you don’t know, those are the people behind the Shantae titles and more. Man fans were eager to see what the new title was going to be. To the surprise of just about everyone though, the title that was revealed was Bakugan Champions of Vestroia.
For those who don’t know, Bakugan is a popular television series and a card game that has been on for many years. And it’s still going to this day in various ways. Wayforward is working on an action-RPG open-world Bakugan title that’ll come exclusive to the Nintendo Switch later this year.
The team at Wayforward as well as members of the actual Bakugan team did a demo of the title and revealed some interesting things.
First and foremost, this is an original title and story but it’s one that is set in the Bakugan universe. Which was proven as some of the characters from the anime show up to teach you or battle you and more. As for the battles, they’re full-scale brawls that allow you to go full throttle and make your characters feel tiny next to the awesome power of the Bakugan.
As for the Bakugan themselves, you’ll be able to make your own team of four, you’ll be able to grow them and customize their abilities and skills to your desires, upgrade them via in-game progression, and have 81 Bakugan to choose from. Including the legendary Leonidas from the anime.
Fan reaction to Bakugan Champions of Vestroia was…not very positive. They were expecting a major title…not this. But if you are excited for this game it’ll arrive for you to play on November 3rd.
