Streaming services like Netflix are always interested in stats about their shows because it can help them go and determine what to do next in terms of picking up or extending certain styles of show. Kids entertainment was very easily a demographic that services like Netflix had to pay attention to because of how 2020 kept a LOT of kids indoors and thus they would go and watch a lot more shows. In a report noted by ComicBook.com, the top kids animated series in 2020 was none other than…Avatar The Last Airbender.
Now, to some this may not be a big surprise. Especially since Avatar The Last Airbender was a BIG arrival to Netflix in the earlier stages of both 2020 and the pandemic that gripped the world. But what really makes this interesting is that as some people have noted…Avatar is over 20 years old at this point. Which means that it was both new and old “kids” who came back to watch the series when it arrived on Netflix. But wait, there’s more, check out the full top 10 list of who got the most views:
Avatar: The Last Airbender
The Boss Baby: Back in Business
Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir
The Garfield Show
The Legend of Korra
Scooby-Doo!: Mystery Incorporated
That’s a very interesting list for a whole host of reasons. Not the least of which is that there is only one Netflix born show on that list and that’s The Boss Baby. Also, Scooby Doo’s series that was on there didn’t have that long of a run and yet kids really wanted to watch it.
Finally, while The Last Airbender enjoyed the top spot, the sequel to it, Legend of Korra, only landed in the No.8 spot.
Either way, this will give Netflix some ideas on what to do next with their animated lineups both old and new.
