Every once in a while a series comes along that makes an impact that is far beyond what expectations are. Sometimes it’s a performance that drives it forward, or other times it’s the use of story or action that makes it memorable. And of course, sometimes a show features all the things at once and blows people’s minds with how amazing it is. This description perfectly captures the animated series that was Avatar The Last Airbender. And now, for the first time ever, you can watch the entire series on Netflix.

For those who don’t know, Avatar The Last Airbender is set in a land with four major nations, each one tied to a major element that defines them. Fire, Earth, Water, and Air. Some of the people of these nations can even manipulate these elements, making them “Benders”. And then, there is one who can control all four elements, the Avatar. The story of The Last Airbender takes place 100 years after the Fire Nation attacked the world and sought to destroy the Avatar by erasing his people from existence. The Avatar survived as a young boy named Aang, and after being found must now travel the world learning what it means to be the Avatar, and save the world before the Fire Nation again tries to destroy it.
Despite it being known as an “American Anime”, Avatar The Last Airbender has grown popular all over the world thanks to its stunning art style, incredible fights, deep story and world-building, and more. Even now, well over a decade since it ended, fans still fondly remember the saga, and they’re eager to watch it on Netflix.
The irony of this is that one of the creators of the animated series is working on bringing a live-action version of the show to Netflix as well.
