Arcade 1Up, creators of 3/4 sized home coin-op recreations, announced four new machines today. They’ve brought us Galaga, Pac-Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Star Wars, and most recently NBA Jam, but they still have some surprises in store.

One of the upcoming machines, Ms. Pac-Man, has been one of the most demanded ever since Arcade1Up opened for business. Revealed at last today, the cabinet — rendered in authentic hot pink and turquoise — contains the title game, Galaxian, Pac-Mania and Pac-Man Plus.

Two more demanded games are crossovers between properties that still remain popular: Marvel Vs Capcom, and X-Men Vs Street Fighter. Arcade1Up came out with a Marvel-themed machine last year, but it didn’t have either of those titles. Fortunately they quickly remedied that.

The Arcade1Up version of Marvel Vs Capcom will include that game, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes in War of the Gems. The X-Men Vs Street Fighter machine will pack in the title game, X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Vs. Capcom: Clash Of Super Heroes, and X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse.

There’s more….earlier this year Arcade1Up said it was looking into pinball game recreations. Today we found out what that meant, and it wasn’t what we were expecting…instead of an actual heavy pinball machine with its intricate and expensive gears, they’ve substituted a video screen with an emulated version of a Marvel pinball game. It was probably far more difficult to shrink down real pinball and keep it affordable, and we get that. But this is still a bit of a letdown.

So what would we like to see from Arcade 1Up in the future? Well, we’re not certain why it’s taking this long, but they still haven’t made one cabinet with a racing wheel, or devoted one machine to a classic arcade racing game. And why not? As it is, our only option is still to track down one of the old machines for a thousand bucks. Change this, you guys!
