Without a doubt, Animal Crossing New Horizons is the biggest hit of the year, and for good reason. The life simulator brought many people joy and happiness while also bringing them stability in a way the world couldn’t via the lockdown. Granted, the game is not without its flaws, but many gamers have happily worked around them to go and make their own island with their own special touches as well as enjoying going to other islands of other players. And now, via Tom Nook, we know what to expect next.
The “Summer Update” for Animal Crossing New Horizons will arrive next week, and it’ll open up your islands even more via the additions of both swimming and diving. As a bonus, when you swim or dive, you’ll have the ability to grab items that are at the bottom of the waters like sea creatures, sea shells and sea stars and more. Then, you can actually donate them to the aquarium you have on your island and literally watch it grow before your eyes.
Then, there are new Animal Crossing characters that’ll show up like Pascal and Gulliver, and each will have their own thing to do with you.
As if all of that wasn’t enough, not only is the Summer Update free, the game will be getting ANOTHER update in August with even MORE content. You can get the breakdown of the update below via the video.
Cool off this summer by diving into the #AnimalCrossing: New Horizons free Summer Update – Wave 1, arriving 7/3! Put on your wet suit to dive & swim in the ocean, and even meet new characters! Stay tuned for info on Wave 2, planned for release in early August. pic.twitter.com/cYd86R7g6D

No doubt Nintendo is aiming to keep Animal Crossing New Horizons as the top title on Nintendo Switch for the foreseeable future, no doubt because it’s sold over 12 million copies and counting, and with the return of Switch stock to the world, they know that even more people are going to want to play the game.
More updates like these are no doubt going to continue to come.
